Great ideas. I'm also a woodturner (lathe) and have used a thin piece of Corian by gluing it between two pieces of wood and when I make the bowl it has a ring around bowl that adds a lot to the end result. I mention this to say I went to a local fabricator of Corian, asked if they had any scraps I could buy and explained what it was for. They GAVE me as much as I wanted from the scrap bin that was a perfect size. Needless to say I made the bowl and brought it back as a thank you and get some more Corian. I now have a 30W diode laser and some leftover material. I'm going to try your method and see what happens. Thanks for the idea. BTW I watched a couple of your videos and you have a new subscriber. Tomorrow I'll be checking out your other videos.

Hi 👋, Trotec, Laser USA . I found this very interesting., as I have been going onto different websites and KZbin links to try and find out a bit more about lasers, cotton and engraving, and especially with resin, I have worked with wood all my life, I’m now in my 70s living in France and I need to find something to keep myself amused and to try and earn some extra pennies, it took me a little while, but I’ve not been on to a website that shows your products and pricing, I was hoping that I might be able to afford something, sadly, this is way out of my price range, I will have to make do the way are used to do things years ago, that is with a fret saw or coping saw, But still a very interesting territorial , Phil from the moulin France,

Great Video - Thanks Laser Dave One comment - Using a torch to remove bubbles in the epoxy resin is the most efficient method. However folks should understand that it’s not the heat that removes the bubbles, it’s the CO2 from the combustion of the Butane. If you get close and gently exhale over the work piece, you will get the same results (you exhale CO2). I have used this method many times on 2 part epoxy. That said, I have never worked with UV cured epoxy resins, but I suspect the results will be similar.

This is a cool idea. What type of laser are you using to engrave the Corian? Also, I already use epoxy resin. You want a well ventilated area for working with it. Most tabletop, casting and standard resins require 8 to 24 hours cure time. Rubbing alcohol is perfect for cleaning up spills. I do love how I can combine my lasers with epoxy resin for some very cool projects.

Laser Dave, Can you use the resin doming on the tabletop resin? How large of a piece have you domed. Thank you for all the instructional videos.
@TrotecLaser6 ай бұрын
Yes, you can; it works the same way. I have done this as large as 12"x 12", but I am certain there is no limit if you have the patience; just use a respirator with traditional resin.

Hello. Thanks for the very useful video. I am a little confused and sorry to ask this, but even though I watched your video several times, it is not clear to me, which cuts you can use the UV resin and which you have to use the resin that cures itself. I just need some examples. I mean I got that you did the earrings and the coasters and I think the owl and turtle design with the UV resin, but the lizard / gecko design and the big cutout board, you used the traditional resin, right? I just want to know how I know that I cannot use the UV resin but the traditional one? You mentioned deep cut (I heard that before - I am still new to laser engraving and cutting - have been doing handmade pyrography items, but I decided to by an atomstack A70), so from how deep engraving have to be that the UV resin would not cure in it with the UV lamp? I thought that the owl and turtle designs were deep cuts as well, or just normal engraving? The lizard design was cut through or deep cut? Thank you so much if you have time to answer my questions. But otherwise very nice video with amazing ideas. I watch out for more videos from you in these subjects.

Any type of resin, whether UV or traditional epoxy, can be used with the processes demonstrated. The key differences lie in application and performance. UV resin cures faster but is more expensive and works best for thinner pours. On the other hand, traditional epoxy is ideal for deeper pours and creating thicker effects. Numerous epoxy options are available, each suited to different needs and preferences.

Epoxy is toxic to breathe and to the skin. You should wear a paint mask and good nitrile gloves when you are dealing with it. Also, most epoxy is rated by the wavelength it responds to. 405 nm is common, I believe. That light would do a WAY better job than sunlight without the risk of dust and debris contamination, since it is tuned at 405 nm.
