So I am working on my first out of state license. I have never heard of an licensing specialist. Where do I find this?
@travelwgraceКүн бұрын
Congrats 🎊🎉 depending what company your contracting with can assist with this! I’m with AYA healthcare and they have a team that prepares you for your contracts. They have what’s called “Allied Licensing Specialist III” who helps you get licensed in your desired state and they also place you on a follow up list to remind you when you’re license is expiring to assist you with the renewal process AHEAD of time! What state are you interested in?! I’m wishing you ALL THE BEST!! 💕

How do you make friends in all the new places with so much movements around the country?
@travelwgraceАй бұрын
Hiii! Such a good question! Making friends while moving around often can be challenging, but I’ve found that saying yes to local events and hobbies makes a big difference. Joining group activities like fitness classes or meetups helps me meet people with similar interests, and work connections often turn into great friendships too. I also try to stay open and approachable. Even with all the moving, I’ve learned that genuine friendships can be built anywhere! If you watch my Senegal videos - I was able to go because I said YES when one of my coworkers asked me and we became really close and still till this day after both of our contracts ended<3 Are you currently doing Travel Social Work or interested in getting started? If so, I can help you with the process!

@travelwgrace3 ай бұрын
Hey there! Thanks for watching the video 😊. Yes, my dog comes along with me on my assignments, and I completely understand your concerns about how traveling as a social worker might impact your dogs. It does take some extra planning, but it’s definitely possible. Finding pet-friendly housing ahead of time is key, and there are lots of resources available for pet care, parks, and vets wherever you go. I use Rover just make sure to check the reviews! Haha Traveling with pets can add a little more coordination, but having my dog with me makes each place feel more like home. If you love travel and want to keep your dogs with you, there’s definitely a way to make it work! Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions!

Great video!! Do you know if you can travel with no license, I have my MSW?
@travelwgrace3 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! 😊 Having your MSW is an amazing start! For most travel social work contracts, you’ll typically need a license for the state you’re working in, but don’t worry-there are definitely some opportunities out there! I’ve seen MSW positions pop up in states like GA (though they’re rare, and they tend to go fast!). Many require about 2 years of experience in a hospital or inpatient setting. I would say for now focus on gaining that hospital experience while you prepare for your LMSW. Once you’re licensed, you'll be able to take advantage of ANY opportunity that comes your way! Keep going-you’re on the right track!

I used to be a social worker up until 2021. I didn't even know there was such a thing as Travel Social Work Contract. I've heard of Freelance, Independent, or Agency Social Work with short contracts.
@travelwgrace3 ай бұрын
Oh wow! I'm curious did you fully transition out or just taking a break from social work at the moment? Travel contracts are a whole new adventure- something new every time! ✨ You can land short-term contracts but also if things are going well, you can stay on the same contract up to a year! (Depending on you and the employer on the extension piece) And after that year, you have to take a 30-day break (to recharge) you can go right back to that same contract, as long as you and the employer agree on the terms.

How does licensing out of state work
@travelwgrace5 ай бұрын
Good question! It depends are you currently licensed as a LMSW and what states are you interested in?! Depending on which states I can assist you with the process and show you the process step by step. There's specific application fees which vary by state and most people obtain by reciprocity/Licensure by Endorsement. You may apply for licensure by endorsement, which recognizes your LMSW from another state. This process can vary widely, with some states requiring additional exams or proof of experience. Please feel free to email me [email protected] - I coach new social workers getting into travel social work world! I would love to hear more!

Thanks for uploading. I'm a black British born and raised guy (Jamaican descent) now living in the Netherlands. I'm planning to go to Senegal in the coming weeks if things work out .... (professional exams to take and to find a new IT freelance contract). My first time in Africa was Cape Verde 18 months ago. Senegal will be my first venture into mainland Africa. One question: Did you have a lot of people coming up to you asking you for money or trying to sell you something? I think after a point that would become very annoying for me.
@travelwgrace6 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching<3 Wow how is it living in the Netherlands?! Everything is GOING to work out and you'll find a freelancing contract and you'll love Senegal! I had to think about that question because the only time someone came up to me trying to sell me something was when I went to Gorée Island (kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYLJp2V7p5ZreaMsi=SgEgvZIrKJLiaPtd) or the touristy areas but that's it not a lot at all and I was there for 2 weeks! Also, my brothers wife is from Cape Verde and she lives in the states now - I def recommend her page! kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYO4mXRombSHja8si=YGg83A1-mdkABqNs I hope everything works out for you!
@haatpraat29936 ай бұрын
@@travelwgrace Thanks for your reply. Your brother is lucky. Cape Verdeans are nice people. What's it like living in the Netherlands? Pretty chilled to be honest. I have been here for years now. Initially I came here to work immediately after university for an IT company and decided to stay. England, where I was born is a short hop away by train and until Brexit, living in the Netherlands seemed like an extension of Britain. Everyone here speaks very good English. I actually look like a typical Senegalese man - quite tall, very dark black. I do not stand out in the Netherlands because most men here are tall and there is a black community here. You have the Surinam and Antillean people from the Caribbean and you have also Africans. When I first arrived in the Netherlands my very first friends were Gambian/Senegalese (Wolof) people. They made me feel welcome in a strange land and since then I have always had a soft spot for Wolof people. There are even a few Jamaicans here - my neighbour is a Jamaican! We get together sometimes and speak patois - the local dialect of Jamaica - my mother language. Anyway, I'm off now to an English pub in this Dutch city to watch the England football team play against Switzerland in the Euro 2024 competition. These games are a great get together for all of us from the UK. Take care and again - nice video!!

Love this! Questions, How was it getting licensed in different states? How much/what type of experience did you have post MSW before becoming a travel SW'er? Any tips? I'm not familiar with this at all and I have a family so I'm really curious if this would ever be possible for me
@travelwgrace6 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching!!<3 ITS ALWAYS POSSIBLE FOR YOU -If it's what you want to do! 1. If you're already licensed as a LMSW in your state that's a start. If you get a contract that is over 50miles (from your house) it's considered travel and under 50 miles is considered local. 2. Getting licenses in different states varies some states takes 10 days to receive a license and others take 6 months so it depends which state you're interested in. 3. Since most travel assignments are in hospitals, most of them require some form of inpatient experience and that experience can vary. 4. I would be happy to explore this with you! I coach other social workers & life coaching. Feel free to email me at [email protected] and we can set up a call! Wish you all the best!!🙌🏾
