The easiest way to quick test MOSFETS with a ''multimmider'' is to first check that it's not shorted, they mostly go short circuit when they fail. After that, to do a crude and quick switching test is to short out all the pins to discharge the gate capacitance first, then in resistance or diode mode (try both to see what happens) connect the positive to drain, negative to source, now short the drain to the gate for a second. The reading on the meter should change. Now, short the gate to the source, the reading should go back to what it was. Basically, what happens is that MOSFETS are ''Voltage Controlled'', i.e. a voltage at the gate changes the resistance of the channel between the drain and source, they go to a low resistance when switched on. The reason for shorting the gate is that it has a VERY high resistance, in fact, it's a small capacitor, and the charge on that ''capacitor'' will keep the device switched on. Shorting it out switches the device off and the reading on the ''multimmider'' changes. Get a few MOSFETS and have a practice to get the feel for testing them in this way. It's not foolproof, but with a bit of practice it's a really quick and easy way of testing MOSFETS, in my experience.
