HOLY SMOKES ! What a find. Isn't it a trip touching history? My friend and i cut the last 2 classes in high school ourjunior year. We went riding our dirt bikes in the woods in NJ. This place had history but we had no idea how much. In the revolution it was considered wilderness and where we were there was a forge hidden from the Britts. We both wiped out in this hole that wasn't there a few days earlier. We found what looked like RR tracks but really small . We dug and dug and found 6 cannon balls in the hole. Being stupid kids we grabbed 2 and raced back to school to talk to our teacher who was not only the teacher of the MILITARY HISTORY CLASS WE CUT but he was an expert in all things americsn military. We busted ito class and he was yelling at us until we dropped the 2 cannon balls . He immediately said "class dismissed" he got in his car and followed a far as he could until he had to walk. We put him in the back of the dirt bike and drove him back to the LOST FORGE . For months after we got to see the dig. It was awesome. Even though we could have kept some. We have it all to the museums .. I have been touching history since

I have a Hillsborough Military Academy confederate button, kinda rare that one and the school no longer exists, and the sunburst 14 with the gold and shank, and a few pieces of NC confederate currency my favorite has Governor Vance on it and is in very fine condition, both NC confederate state cuff and coat buttons, and a rifleman found near Fort fisher, then a few confederate reunion pieces the NC Charlotte hornets nest June 1929 Brigade staff ribbon with matching watch fob, a UCV Durham moment 1921 Julian Shakespeare Carr ribbon says first at bethel last at Appomattox. Washington Duke was a confederate solider his son ran the tobacco industry they had cards and little pamphlets for confederate stuff my 2 favorite is the Nathan Bedford Forrest pamphlet, and the cards one has the hunley, Taylor Brothers tobacco made a few nice things as well

Why don't you guys use probes to locate those trash pits? You can feel the exact diameter of the hole that was dug.

how is it that you bullet finds are in "piles"?
@trentsmillmansion12 жыл бұрын
Hey Glenn! Great question! In this case it's because bullets were discarded in trash pits.
@glenndotter50652 жыл бұрын
@@trentsmillmansion1 Thanks, but why would they throw bullets away? Interesting stuff!
@trentsmillmansion12 жыл бұрын
@@glenndotter5065 also a great question! Occasionally the paper cartridges that held the bullets would get wet, in which case they would discard them. In other cases they were being issued new updated ammunition and would throw away the old ammunition. An example would be when they transitioned from round balls to conical bullets.

Tony great learning video! At the time of the video were your setting based on the GPX 4800 or were you using the 4500 or 5000? The reason for my question is I use the 4800 and you don't see much about settings for the 4800 posted online or in videos. Thanks!
