I know it's likely that the original poster will not say this, but this video helped save me over $150 on a new Switch assembly. The shop I took it to said that they tried taking it apart and cleaning it. After I disassembled it myself, I saw that they didn't do jack shit. I went back over there and got my money back. And my seitch works again

I tried this on my gz250 but no matter what I do, it still doesn’t work. I used contact cleaner, i even used some sandpaper to clean up the contacts plus the spring! It worked on my horn, but not on my starter button so I’ve been having to start my bike with a wire from the battery to the starter 😑

Very helpful. Didnt know those needed cleaning. 😂 Going to try it out on my starter switch. I’ve ruled out many other things like the colenoid, the starter engine, the fuse, and the battery. Hope it helps!

@@roadwarrior8560 No! I finally disconnected and bypassed the safety clutch option (for starting) and it fired right up. I realized after the fact that my son had dropped the bike on its left side and had damaged the safety clutch wiring. When I bypassed that it had no problems. It started great for a while. Now I’m having issues with power not even connecting from the battery when I turn the key on. Im wondering if I need to replace the key switch mechanism or if it’s something else.

I don't know if you'll see this but the idea with the Jack and piece of wood was a great idea but I used a metal file instead of wood and Jack the tensioner pulley up the belt slipped on perfectly! Now the fun part is remembering how to put it back together but thank you very much your video was very helpful

I got my first shorai battery, anf I liked, it last 7 years after a power outage, the bsm-01 do not resume to storage setting ( its like it is turned off) , and the battery was damage, after that battery, I got only problem qith shorai battery ( replace 3 already) they have always problem with pins that may the charging system not charging and then qith time the battery is damaged, for a 100- 120$ dolars battery they should have a serius water proof and corrosion resitance conectors to the battery, like exterior car conectors has.

This video and comments helped me out so much... Thank you Mayor and Townsmen and Women... I used the "Jack Trick" 🙂and it work so smoothly. I started my loop around the crankshaft, pulley tensioner, then the AC Pump. I used a jack and big flathead screwdriver, like a foot in half or two long to push the "Pulley tensioner" up, from the ground with the jack. Note, you have to push it up, quite a bit, I didn't want to push it up and break or something, but to save you time, you have to push it up about 2 to 4 inches, possibly a little more. It will make it easier for you to slip the belt over the Alternator. Make sure it covers all of the moving parts for the belt. Once your happy, slowing lower the jack and make sure belt is resting correctly over all parts. Go start your car and come check it and make sure its moving over everything correctly and then turn it off and your good to start installing back your cover plate, behind tire. Passenger side. It is tight, but this video helps out alot... Awesome video and thank you and just wanted to share my exp

Basically it's a cavalier/cobalt with a HHR body. Gonna finally do it Buy the tool and cut it in half . Save a lot of trouble. Especially raising the car up so high ! what position for a 2004 Honda 750 aero on off reserve?
@suburbanryder
@suburbanryder 2 жыл бұрын
If you can't find any markings on the lever itself then make sure the tank is at least 1/3 full. Get a drain pan and disconnect the hose so any gas will drain into it. Of the three possible positions one will shut off all flow. That is your off. One of the other two will be either main or reserve. Choose one of them. After the gas stops switch to the third position. If little or no gas flows that was your reserve. If gas flows for a while and then stops then the second position was the main and the last position is the reserve.

Hey man great video! Followed your steps just now and still had problems with the starter switch. Finally realized that the contact pin that sits inside the spring in the backside of the thumb button eventually looses length, as all electrical contacts are prone to do. That contact pin can be pulled out and flipped around, problem solved! Hope that helps someone!

The manufacturers make them so the front wheel is well off the ground when on the stand or at least off the sprung weight....you can shorten (cut and weld) the stand which is effectively the same as putting the wood underneath it....you dont really need as much raised height as they give you unless you are putting it on uneaven ground.
@suburbanryder
@suburbanryder 2 жыл бұрын
That would work too. I just have plenty of wood around and it took less than a minute to cut off a piece to use. It also doubles as a kick stand support when I park on soft ground.
