I have a difficult time with working yarn on the opposite needle.

I’ve been trying to figure out the pattern “library vest” from the Outlander knitting book and finding myself very frustrated. Seems to be some errors and omissions. Might someone have found a solution, I would greatly appreciate it.

What do we too skinny people do? My raglan gets wide enough quickly but the increases are 4 inches above my underarms. If I stopped increasing and started knitting what happens to the arm shapes?

He LEFT her at the FRONT door, then he came RIGHT BACK. I knit the stitches off the cable needle instead of putting them back on the left hand needle, saves a step.

Just watched the replay and it was great! I recommend taking classes in person at your LYS, online and/or correspondence classes. The Basics class from TKGA and your Fix Your Knits and Knits that Fit classes have made a big difference in my knitting. Roxanne Richardson’s Technique Tuesday videos are a great way to learn a new technique. My public library and local knitting group have lots of knitting books to take out for more learning. Margaret Radcliffe is a favorite of mine too!

Yes, lots of learning resources out there - I agree!

Loved the original series even though there seems to be more examples of vintage knitwear in the modern series. Watching the series 2 original series and just bought series 3. Karen Drinkwater played a brilliant role as Helen up to series 3 and had an off screen relationship with James character. She left the series after that when Linda Bellingham took on the role of Helen. I am only interested in the original series up to series 3.

Just watched the reply, thank you for all your information, I always learn so much from watching your podcasts. You are very pleasant and easy to listen to. On your next segment I was wondering if you can address why sometimes you get a hole when doing the last resolve on german short rows. I have done swatches but cannot figure out technically why that would happen. Not sure if that is too detailed or not, just a suggestion.
@NerdyKnitting2 күн бұрын
Are you transitioning to knitting in the round after your last short row turn? I find I get a hole when I do that. I've learned to slip the first part of that final double-stitch, knit the second through the back leg and then pull the slipped stitch over that one. It's hard to explain but if you look up Patty Lyons' short row trick it might come up somewhere (I discovered it in her book).

I have read that if the cable on your needles are nylon, if you warm them with hot water they will relax. I have used my hair dryer on high and it worked for me.

That's a great tip - I've never tried that!

Thank you so much for this video, it was so helpful. I really appreciated how you explained why there seems to be so much slack in a ssk compared to a K2tog, (I struggle with that!) it makes so much sense! So excited to try your little trick on the sleeves of the crewneck I am working on!

This topic was just right for me - I have been looking for ways to learn more. I'm one of those people who doesn't want to just tell time but wants to know how the watch works :) I didn't realize that the TKGA program was to teach you - I thought it was only an evaluation of skills you already have learned. Sounds like it's not a beginner workshop, but more like college with a curriculum to help you expand, improve your skills and earn your "degree" - is that right?
@NerdyKnitting3 күн бұрын
Yes, exactly - it's like earning your knitting degree! But I had only been knitting for less than a year when I started the first level so I don't think you have to be advanced to start the program - you'll learn as you go!

Could you advise on what needles to use for what and if you recommend purchasing a set? Is there a brand you recommend? Thanks.
@NerdyKnitting3 күн бұрын
Everyone has different opinions so it's best to get a single set of needles to test out first before investing in an interchangeable set. But I do really like my metal Chiaogoo's!
