i cant lie, this was pretty underwhelming. as with most nations, joining ww2 was a huge strategic mistake. romania wouldve done much better if they just built up defensive lines on their northern borders and helped in the balkans. italy shouldve just tried to secure their territories all over africa and be happy if they can keep it all. japan shouldve never touched pearl harbour. it's always a huge difference if you attack a country's sovereign territory rather than just some far flung territories on the other side of the globe. taking the philippines and all other ally friendly nations in south east asia wouldve never alarmed america when it was that busy with itself. that way japan wouldve had more than enough troops to finish their wars with the brits even up till india and kept their supply lines safe. that way even the war with china wouldve seemed more doable, or at least not so hopeless. hungary shouldve never joined any war but been happy with what they got from romania and maybe some miniscule territories in the carpathians. helping in the balkans wouldve been all that they had to do and take in all the fleeing jews, rich and poor. hungary truly couldve flourished until the germans took over. germany did very well till they started operation barbarossa, bc it's a silly idea to "blitz" 1000s upon thousands of kilometers. they couldve kiiiinda kept face internationally if they really just surprise attacked all soviet territories at the front but critically also called it quits before too long. they werent prepared for winter and never had such long supply lines, especially not through sparsely populated areas like russia. so just encircle all large troop gatherings directly at the front, a bunch of exploitation attacks to show force but never attack large cities but only siege passively. germans can blitz and shoot from afar, not fight house to house. and then sell back the besieged cities for guarantees. that way germany looks a whole lot more like they had the right to preemptively attack the soviet union, which is a real thing, btw, look it up. then pull troops back, make them work through winter, build up defence lines and expect the soviets to attack again, but this time without lend-lease bc the allies were never afraid that they'd falter so quickly in the war. they could evem rinse and repeat whenever russia amasses troops on the german border. anyway. in short: aggression doesnt pay, only self defence does. preventive war isnt aggression so long as you have a very good reason to believe that you're going to be attacked.

The slave free North? 😅 No sorry the north was not slave free, until not long before the war started. How many times did you try to say slave in the first minute of the video? This is some of that "woke" history. there was a LOT MORE to the civil war than slavery, it was only a part of it. One down side to free speech is people can twist things anyway they like. Abraham Lincoln didn't care about slavery , he cared about the country being split up. The North couldn't afford to lose the south's resources. It's hard to feed and cloth yourself when you can't grow anything. At least you said " states rights" one time

Chios is pronounced He-Os. Hard H. Os as in Kos. My mothers island. Damn awful history as far as revolts against Turks and reprisals. The Venetians while awful at first trying to convert Greeks to catholics, who'd rather die since no Greek catholics exist, became decent rulers of Greek regions in the 1600's. When they both realized they were surrounded and had more in common with eachother then their common enemy. Cretans & Venetian held out in Iraklio for 20 years. My father's island.

it has been NO Masterpiece at all, but the first step in mass murder and genocide! As Wikipedia says: "The operations at Odessa highlighted significant weaknesses in the Romanian Army, leading both military and political leaders in the country to call for a discontinuation of military operations against the Soviet Union." A very sudden consequence was the British declaring war on Romania on 6 December. Immediate after the capture of Odessa Romanian nationalists/fascists have murdered about 30000 ukrainean jews in Odessa. In the entire war about 100000 jews have been murdered in the Odessa region by Romanian and German racists.

Yes, this is the glorious 4-th Romanian army that was totally destroyed at Stalingrad along with the 6-th German Army let by German general Paulus. The same army was later re-constituted along with the 6-th German army, and was destroyed for the second time while trying to prevent a Russian invasion on the Prut line in 1944. It was finally disbanded in 1947... so much for glory! One more thing, this video is trying to resurrect the same sentiments that were prevalent during the years before and during WW2, however keep in mind that the Romanians are not a nation of worriers, but rather one of cannon fodder... sad but true!

Nice video. But small, yet crucial correction regarding the German attack on Russia: It was not to gain "lebensraum", but to eliminate the soviet threat, which was preparing to launch an attack on Germany and Europe itself. The Golden Mines is a subject of debate in modern day archaeology, because most archaeologists came to the conclusion that Trajan didn't know about the Dacian Gold until after the conquest of Dacia. The main reason for the Dacian Conquest was, most likely, to show the might of Rome, and the might of Trajan himself, as he had no military experience before these wars, unlike other Roman Emperors.
