I hate Brexit, it’s just as stupid, that has been a shit show so why would further independence suddenly be any different, because you trust our politicians over the other politicians? Hmmm. We’re all too zoomed in, caring about the wrong things. The UK and its problems are so insignificant compared to the rest of the world yet the countries in it get so caught up in their personal feelings acting like it’s the be all end all, it’s not, the world is bigger than the country you live in, sorry. Do you have any idea how utterly tiny and insignificant each individual country is and the UK as a whole??. Also, I don’t want to sound like I’m wearing a tinfoil hat but those in the greatest of powers want us divided and distracted. They want an “us vs them” scenario so that hopefully we’ll be distracted enough to not realise that the only reason for the total inequality in the western world could be eradicated if a tiny few didn’t own and control the majority of things and people, making decisions purely in favour of continued profit at the expense of the health and quality of life of 90% of people. And people think politicians are any different? What I’m saying is the true root of the cause is much bigger than just whether one country or kingdom should be independent from another. That won’t fix ANYTHING, and they’re winning if we do think so. Power in numbers, we’re all on this planet together, sharing it. If everyone rallied together against the 1%, then that would at least make a start, not focusing in on ourselves and something as petty as country rivalry, it’s pathetic.

"Us vs them" already exists, and should have always existed. I'm Scottish. That's me. You're not. That's them. That doesn't mean I'm better than you, it means my own nation should have the right to run its own course without the people of England's choice in government doing it for us. Being part of the union has been an exercise in England virtually always getting what it wants, while we wanted something different. Be it Brexit or other policies. I'm not going to sacrifice my country to the status quo, which is certainly not stopping the elites from ripping us off and pushing far right policies. It's already happening,.

@@OneTrueScotsman I understand that an “us vs them” will naturally occur in human nature, I’m not disputing that. But what I’m saying is it’s been used against us to keep people divided and distracted. In my opinion, we should be, as a modern developed species, able to see past that premise and be aware of what dangers it brings, especially if, like in this case, it’s being exploited by those in power. MAGA in america, brexit in the UK, scottish independence, it’s all the same to me. I am scottish by the way, not sure if I mentioned that. This country has so many amazing things going for it yet is often failed by people. Think bigger than being so passionate about what country you tie yourself to, until then I don’t think there’s anyway we will be able to debate past this current point. All the things you’re talking about are zoomed in details that easily trigger a blinding emotional response that makes use of the fact you care so much about the country you are in. You can love and feel at home in the country you were born in, but to so fiercely tie yourself to it is giving the people that have influence, power and control, exactly that over you.

That's part of the problem. You're erasing our countries and cultures, rather than respecting them. Which is why the union is going to fail at the end of the day.
