That was an inside job, even the CIA Knew about it hours before it happened, America always wanted to control Afghanistan for decades due to the drug trade of opium which USSR/Soviet union invaded Afghanistan for the same reason in 1979. CIA funded the mujaddin fighters in the early 1980s to get rid of the Russians occupation. The mujaddin were given arms(russian made Kalashnikov rifles, now ironic) which surprised the Russians and they learned that the CIA totally funded them. The mujaddin eventually became the Talibans, as you can understand the terrorism was actually homegrown for other sinister purposes and not for liberating humanity. Taliban got the impression that they would have full absolute power over Afghanistan, but CIA was just using them to do their dirty work and place their own trained agent president Ahmed Karzai to worked with them and keep an close eye of the borders of Tajikistan/ former Soviet. The Cold War did not disappear completely, it went into some kind of remission and emerged stronger after the collapse of Soviet union and when Vladimir Putin came into power. Terrorism is controlled by both America, United Kingdom and of course Russia to create a state which I don't want to really mention the country for my own safety. Unfortunately its always Americans, British, Europeans, asians and middle eastern civilians that are caught in these political mess which politicians have created

It's actually not, that's the one thing that the media actually gets right about America. Our country was built on racism its in all of our laws and even in our constitution. You don't just get rid of that by integrating society. It takes generations for that to fade away.

Every country was built on racism, because every country at one point had land taken from, and/or conquered another country. Even within Africa there is heavy racism. But when people think of racism as the first thing to come to mind when one thinks of America from an outside looking in perspective that’s when it’s over exaggerating. Because it’s not the 50s and 60s, there has been massive progress in the effort to remove it and for the most part it has been successful. And of course there are holdouts, prejudiced people, and corrupt areas, but that is everywhere. Doesn’t mean we should stop working on them but when they are the first thing to come to a foreigners mind when asked about the country shows how misrepresented it must be.

As an American, I would suggest foreigners view America as a federation of states rather than a culturally monolithic nation. There is a massive cultural schism(Left v Right) that appears will sunder us in two within a few decades. Even in my state of California which Americans tend to view as monolithic, there are stark ideological/cultural different between North, South, and the Central valley. I loved England and Scotland when I visited, though I was shocked to see how few English people appeared to live in London.

Its interesting how America always get accused of meddling in other countries affairs. To start off, this was essentially an obligation coming out of World War 2. Many countries were absolutely devastated by the war and America happen to see a huge economic boom given the investment in infrastructure. So, coming out of the war and seen as the the country who turned the tide of summer a crucial war and all of the economic benefits reaped out America in a position to be a leader on the global stage. Also, there are many of countries that try to purchase their influence welcome America onto their lands and make sure to keep a good relationship so they have the ability to purchase sophisticated equipment for their own interests. This role was basically assumed on the country and has almost no choice but to maintain. Am I saying guilt free no but what country is. Most Americans respect the British people very much, and I am sure the feelings are mutual.
