Thanks for posting this! I am changing out my XJ8 trims from the dark XJR style veneer to the lighter, more traditional walnut. All changed except for this one, and from the manual it looks like the process is very similar for the XJ8.

@@ODRModurol Well, it's done and took about 90 mins all up. Similar series of steps to the XK8, with some differences in the number of nuts and sizes. After unclipping the trim cover, I could see two 10mm nuts/bolts to remove (I think there were some 7mm ones on the XK8 as well). Glovebox removal was identical. After glovebox removal, there were two of the same 10mm nuts/bolts underneath. After remove of those, you could push the airbag unit up and out to remove it. Rest was the same - disconnect the electrics, remove the old trim piece (same bolt types), replace (thread lock the bolts etc) with the new trim piece, then reinstall in reverse. The only tricky bit was getting the electrics/wires in, but I managed to get it all sorted in the end and it looks great! Your video definitely helped with the overall steps. Specific nuts and bolts are a little different, but the process is basically the same.

Thanks for the excellent review and analysis of the challenges and options for doing this pedal box conversion. One problem you noted for the RHD conversion, the close proximity to the wiper link rod, could be solved by simply making a slightly bent version of the rod. Might have to fabricate a new rod though if the bend shortens the rod too much.

Hello Damian. Thank you for this excellent video, I have been watching it with great interest since I think I have to replace a microswitch on the passengers side ( right side) of my lefthand drive 1997 XK8 to get control with the side window. The door locks and unlocks without problems but the window lives its own life. I am not able to operate it with the window switch at the passenger side, but can operate it with the window switch on the drivers side. The problem is that when I raise it fully it wont stay closed but goes immediately down again. If I raise it to almost top position it will stay there. I have tried to reset the window mechanism ( after disconnected the battery) as pointed out in the instructions, but it does not help, the window on the passenger side won`t " take learning". There is no problems with the other window ( left- on the drivers side) and my battery is in good condition. So after studying the internet and the Jaguar forums and your video I think that this can be due to a defect microswitch and that I have to buy an Omron D2SW-3L3MS switch and replace it. Can I be so free as to ask you of your opinion- do do think this can be a good hypothesis or du you have other suggestions?🙄 Best regards Knut H Kierulf, Trondheim, Norway

@knuthofftkierulf3617, this is an interesting problem. You can see the cause when looking at the wiring diagram Fig15.1 Page 59 of 123, available for free on our website modurol.co.uk . There are two independent switches for the passenger window lift control, in the drivers side and passenger side switch packs. This would explain why the drivers side controls are working but not the passenger side. The passenger side microswitch for window open and closed is broken and needs replacement. So, we would agree with your hypothesis and you need to investigate the passenger side lock microswitches. Hope that helps and please let us know how you get on with your repairs, regards Damian Link to wiring diagram drive.google.com/file/d/13L8MiPsp25hvmZmQ9zPQJy_JMqH7d6Qv/view

@szymeklawik7636, Assuming your car is post 2001 model? The first thing would be to try to rest the airbag light with a code reader. Disconnecting the seat with the battery connected would trigger the warning light as the seat has airbags. In still no good. There are two 2-way black connectors in the seat for that model year. SEAT BACK TILT SWITCH (SD24) and SEAT BACK TILT SWITCH (SD25). SD24 has green and black with white stripe wires. SD25 has green and black with green stripe wires. You can see these in the wiring diagram Fig12.1 page 89 of 152. The wiring diagram can be found for free on our website modurol.co.uk (see link below). @szymeklawik7636, If there's a fault, the airbag light should come on for six seconds, then go out for two seconds, then flash the appropriate number of flashes for the fault, go off again for two seconds, then repeat the whole sequence five times. Finally the light stays on until the ignition is turned off. Eg; Flash code 16 would be shown as lamp ON for one occurence of 0.5 seconds, then lamp OFF for one second, followed by six occurences of lamp flashing ON/OFF for 0.5 seconds each (1 - 6). here is the list of codes i.e. the number of flashes that are seen, may help point you in the right direction 13 - Crash data memory full 16 - Pass seat weight sensor CAN fault 17 - Pass spatial sensor CAN fault 18 - Pass airbag deactivate lamp circuit fault 19 - Airbag circuit status fault - driver 21 - Airbag circuit status fault - pass 22 - Side Airbag circuit fault - driver 23 - Side Airbag circuit fault - pass 33 - Seat Belt Pretension fault - driver 34 - Seat Belt Pretension fault - pass 42 - Impact sensor circuit fault - front 43 - Impact sensor circuit fault - driver side 44 - Impact sensor circuit fault - pass side 51 - Seat belt switch circuit fault - driver 52 - Seat belt switch circuit fault - pass 53 - Airbag audible warning circuit fault 54 - RCM configuration failure What code are you getting? @ODRModurol Manual box will definitely imrove the engine response. The auto in the xk is a typical 90s box tho, takes an eternity to drop a gear then even longer to realise you want to drop 2 gears. Imo the v8 lacks a bit of power because ford owned Aston Martin at the same time. If the xk8 had 30-40bhp more, then people would have the xk8 instead of the base model db7. By the time the xkr was released (1998) Aston were putting v12's in the db7 n got rid of the supercharged 6cylinder. Best of luck with the manual conversion, I will be watching the channel to see how it's going.

Is there a sensor in the atmospheric tank? Or if it low will system tell you it low on coolant?

David, no there isn’t a sensor in the atmospheric tank. The coolant level sensor is in the expansion/fill tank. The only way to check the atmospheric tank is by removing the wheel liner and viewing the level. Hope that helps, regards Damian

Amazing collection of videos well done, having seen what's involved I do not feel up to the task, plus my tensioners I think have gone so damage to the valves is likely. Do you know anyone who may take this on? or is likely a engine change will be cheaper? Thanks Tony

Tony, thank you for your kind words of support. Sorry it has put you off. Recommend trying to find a local Jaguar specialist and they should be able to investigate and advise the best course of action. regards Damian

@merobot.6275, the adaptor is used with RS II wheels. Not sure if RS767 are RS II but hope that helps, regards Damian

Thank you for doing something that really benefits fellow XK owners. These highly detailed videos must take ages to research and produce. Done the microswitch this morning following your guide with the links provided. Took a couple of hours. Mine was corroded and the micro switch had no switch acton at all. I managed to wriggle the latch out with the interior door handle still attached. Thank you once again.

Paul, thank you for your kind words of support and encouragement. Glad you appreciate the detail of our content. Glad you got your lock fixed and the video helped in some way. Those microswitches are good but don't last forever, regards Damian

well mine is still stock with 200k kms and it actually sounds better and takes less time to tension, even after sitting in the garage for weeks

@Jovemdaluta, good to hear your car is running OK after 200km’s. Interesting observation oil must be thicker and building up more pressure when cold, regards Damian
