Hi..Damien I'm extremely interested in this XK8 Conversion, and I am now busy looking at all the mechanics of this challenging change on my 2001 XKR. I have the 4 hole Pedal Box and as you recommended...I have the WILWOOD Master Cylnder 260-6089 Can I buy the Brackets from you for this conversion.? I am using the Jaguar S Type 2.7 V6 Manual Gearbox with Gear Selector etc. Flywheel and Clutch selection still evades me. Excellent Videos with amazing detail. Keep up the Good Work. Colin Nugent

Colin, Nice to here someone is taking on this project. No problem to supply some prototype adaptor brackets. We would need to understand if you are LHD or RHD. Plus the type of pedal pad shape triangular or rectangular you want. You will need to consider how to modify your existing brake pedal. Please contact us at our email address [email protected] . Where is the starter relay location, I can hear a clicking from the passenger glovebox area when trying to start the car, watched the video but didn't see the answer. I was hoping it was the relay at the end of the dash but it seems to be an auxiliary.

Colin, the starter relay is located in the RH front bulkhead enclosure (brake servo area on RHD cars). It's hidden under a small black plastic cover. Pull this cover up and off to reveal three relay positions. The most front in car relay is for the starter motor. Hope that helps, regards Damian

really helpful. thanks. One question any idea why on the instrumentation dials? There is one dial which doesn’t have an aluminium surround for it. Even the Jaguars after 2001 or 2002 whenever it was which then had the standard aluminium surrounds for the main six styles the seventh one was ignored . why is this and can you suggest where I should go to get a fabrication to rectify what I think of is an oversight by Jaguar?

It’s NOT simply the best. I would argue. power output ? this is the ZEEMAX wide body. it it’s BHP is only 400bhp right ? It’s NOT a manual Its not 500BHP the interior is standard in the main. still same old FORD switch gear outdated FORD audio/nav / OLD standard front lights not LEDs the XKRR built by Jaguar. One of one that has to be the ultimate out of the factory Jaguar. and regards after market ….. just go to PARAMOUNT. Or SWALLOWS. they can do much better and upgrades. And regarding the interior, I’ve not yet seen anybody do a satisfactory upgrade job to the interior and to remove some of those horrible plastic four buttons. Love to see a SINGER 911 approach to the X100. imagine the marriage of the best of classic Jaguar quality interior leather and classic proper buttons and dials but upgraded and modernised.the way SINGER has taken the 911 964 reimagined it and now if I had a spare £1 million or more I think that would be my favourite car. But I would love to see what could be done with the X100.

I HAVE A SOLUTION...IT WORKS EVERYTIME!!! unfortunately it is a recurring problem but my solution is the simplest... it is a WORMGEAR to RADIAL GEAR mating error... you have to only lightly press a flathead between the two gears and you will hear a little pop as the gears teeth zipper up proper like...the problem is the gears wind up sticking peak to peak and bind up. not sure if you can replace these parts to improve it, but you don't really need to. I fixed it a couple times already this way,, but like i said it is a recuring problem... it seems I wind up jamming those gears together when the CD player changes disc over a hard bump, it only takes a few minutes to take apart, but time is too valuable and there are too many pot holes to waste a few minutes every time I hit a major BUMP, so I drilled a small hole directly above the worm gear (which is actually on the bottom of the CDPLAYER"S METAL CASING)... now I just stick a small screw driver up there gently move it into place and listen for the little pop... which fixes it. found this solution myself toying around with the thing looking into how it works when taken apart... I bet this is a common error and might help other drivers who want to use the NATIVE CD player and console controls.

Hi . . and thanks for a great video and which has persuaded me into having a go at replacing all Ignition Coils and plugs. But can you help me with a very particular issue (for me). Could you describe a bit more clearly how you release the Ignition Coil 4 pin plugs/connections apart from each other. Now before you all jump up and slate me for asking a daft question, I'd ask you to appreciate that I'm disabled and do all car maintenance with using only my right hand. So . . "pushing down from the top whilst prising with a screw driver and pulling the plug/casing apart - carefully so as not to break" . . . can quite easily become the hardest and riskiest element of the whole job. Could I ask you to give an honest opinion of whether you could you disconnect the IG 4 pin plugs using only your right hand, because if that's impossible . . . I'm gonna have to (reluctantly) give the whole job to a garage. Cheers
@ODRModurol
@ODRModurol 21 күн бұрын
Neil, hello XK8 enthusiast with an interesting question. To honest with you I couldn't imagine trying to do these jobs with only my right hand, especially as I am left handed ;). As you are even contemplating doing this, think you must be very capable of this job and many other tasks. I don't think unplugging the coil packs is a major concern. The coil plug plugs have a small plastic latch to prevent them coming loose. A screwdriver or similar item is used to unlatch them. You could leave the screwdriver in the plug so it remains unlatched, then pull off the socket. Just need to be careful to keep the screwdriver/or similar item in position and not to lose it when the socket comes off. Its probably going to be quite tight as not removed by often so will need some jiggling to free it off. LHS is a bit easier to do and I would advise starting that side. That's my thoughts but I would love to hear your feedback. Please let us know what you decided regards Damian
@neilday837
@neilday837 20 күн бұрын
@@ODRModurol Hi Damian and thanks for your reply. Yeah it sounds pretty much like a standard spring latch arrangement and should be OK , I just couldn't see that clearly in the video. This "un-clipping" should be easy as the coil pack is static and in a fixed position as you apply force to detach. Sliding a plastic shim/feeler gauge in under the clip/latch is the default method. The ones that are (sometimes) impossible are those push/pull/clip/latch fasteners where both the plug and socket are "free floating". I've had to manage and to find a way for 40+ years, so I don't give-up too easily . . . but you gotta know when you are going to need help.!! cheers . . I'll let you know how I get on.

@kalcine, quite possible that your have the 325mm disc. The easiest way to check is the clearance to the disc dust shield. They used the same dust shield on 305mm and 325mm disc assemblies. With the 305mm discs the dust shield is much larger than the disc. With the 325mm the dust shield is only slightly larger than the disc. Take a look at the gap and it should be obvious. Hope that helps, regards Damian.

Helpfull video but now seems to be out of date. My replacement 77 lathe has a different design where it attaches to the aluminium bar so both the bar and link point are different. May this redesign was to strengthen the strap - it looks stronger. This means I can't re-use the old aluminium bar as i cant fix the strap to it. I have temporariliy glues up the broken strap with epoxy resin. It might not be a good idea if its now stronger than before but I don't think it will last. I figured a DIY way to get the new aluminium back to fit to the top of the curtain. You can cut out notch at the top of the curtain a bit wider than the aluminium bar - this will allow you to slide off the old bar and slide in the new. Be sure to cut the notch to one side of where the bar will be. The notch is quite shallow and wont affect the integrity of the curtain but presumably might affect the warranty. The notch doest show from the outside and you'd have to know it was there to spot it from the inside so not really a cosmetic issue.
