@@ODRModurol it’s something that I would consider for my car as well and is really interesting to see the processes. I feel the only let down for them is the sluggish gearbox

Damian, I find it very interesting how you designed this conversion. Excellent engineering work. Super explained and Understandable. Thank you for the way you show it. I'm impressed. Greetings, Udo.👌

Udo, glad you understood the explanation. I was worried I was rambling a bit and maybe people couldn't follow my thread. Thank you for the feedback, much appreciated, regards Damian

Damian, appreciate how complicated this pedal box design is if you want to get all the elements correct starting with position and distance of travel for the pedal itself. I am watching and learning from across the pond!

Mark, thank you for your support from across the pond. I think, I am probably over thinking it but I would feel more confident if all the components calculations made sense. Thanks for comment, much appreciated, regards Damian

Great video showing your ups and downs of what “should be” easy. It seems to me that ignoring wiper mechanism interference in favor of sound pedal box engineering would be the preferred route to follow. Slightly modifying (bending) the wiper mechanism arm would be far simpler than re-engineering your already re-engineered solution. Even if you had to elongate that pesky arm to get your needed clearance. Regarding the needed clutch movement: If the manufacturer of the matched components is confident that it works as advertised, then go with it and hold them accountable. As long as your clutch pedal travel provides the required plunger travel, there should be no issues. (Says one who has no skin in the game.) Best of luck with this project!

Tom, Thanks for the message. You are the second person to suggest modify the wiper mechanism, starting to kick myself. To be honest I haven't contemplated modifying it. The cylinder wasn't difficult to tune out of the way of the wiper. Preferred to try and find a solution within the modified pedal box we were already doing to keep the final solution more simple. Reference matching the clutch system components. The clutch people said the same thing and we are probably over thinking it. The problem comes when say they have used thousands of 0.7" master cylinders without any issue but then find the are at least three different stroke lengths for the same cylinder 1.1", 1.25" and 1.4". We have opted for the longest stroke but need to go through two cylinders to get one. Like you mentioned its easy for people to say it will be alright on the night but its not their time and money. Can't understand why they can't tell me the throw-out cylinder specification. Going to measure myself at some point. I feel like I have got an arm. leg and left kidney in the game. Thanks agian for your support, regards Damian

@@ODRModurol You might try asking your new Jaguar connections who have been there, done that. Good luck.

Damian, Would you be able to use a gated shifter on this project? I think that would almost convince me to do a conversion on my XKR. PS your videos are great and have come in really handy for my own repair jobs. Thanks!
@ODRModurol5 ай бұрын
Curtis, Thank you and that's a good idea about adding a gate to the shifter. Not sure if the T56 will allow this but willing to give it a try. Probably going to be the last thing to do on this project but we will get there eventually, regards Damian

Hi Damien, control area network, (I.E. can bus) the ECU will need reconfiguration, I think I am sure about this from my knowledge but I could be wrong. However assuming that is what it would require, how do you plan on pre-programming the ECU master chip or EEPROM microchip? I would like to know what the plan is. I wish you every success, Chas 😀

Chas, thanks for your interest in our project. There was a loom and black box with the ‘kit’. Hoping it still works to foul the TCM that the auto box is still attached. Fingers crossed, regards Damian.

I am doing the same project on a LHD car. I have the XJS pedal box modified for the 4 bolt boost, I have not installed yet but will check the wiper linkage you mentioned on the LHD. I am using the ZF 6S-53, since it should fit without modification. I have the same flywheel and clutch you showed, am using the S-Type throw-out bearing need to check travel though. I have built a CAN bus module to "fool" the XK8 to think the auto is still installed. It works on the bench, but have not tested with the XK8 yet. Do you have a email to dialog the progress?

Glenn, sounds like a parallel project but LHD. Interested to hear your experiences. Our Email address is oanddr@gmail.com . Your canbus module sounds very interesting hope you can get in working, regards Damian.
