I own 2 50s record players as well as a huge stack of records. I think media equipment back then was just so much more of a vibe. I also run a recording studio and one of my mics is from the 50s, as well as a few of them being based off of 50s models. They are feckin' classsss. I also use film photography still (outside of my professional product work,) and it's made me completely rethink my process for shooting.

What a nice video. I felt like I was watching a well made movie. The edit and color, music, they all great. Nice job Liam.

For those of us who spent our childhoods in this world or something very similar, this was a nice trip. And the video itself is one of the best I have ever watched on youtube.

No sponsor or snything just joy and whimsy. Curious more about the tape recorder, didnt look super portable, and mic far away? High gain? Sounds like it i guess. Probably dubbed afterwards. Also not super sure on the whole thing being shot on 16mm...

Everything seems so quiet and peaceful, but I'm sure that's mainly because of the tape recorder dubbing.

I still miss my walkman and cassette tapes to this day. The amount of times i broke the film and managed to salvage it with sellotape, making my own art work on the cassette sleaves, the mix tapes. The shitty uncomfortable headphones that made you geel like you had been in a vice for 2 hours. The never ending need for pencil batteries. I was born in 1983 i dont remember much of the 80s but i remember my walkman and fisherprice boombox well. 5 star will always be uks number one pop band ❤ you sir, have brought utter joy to many people with this video. 🎉

You know I thought this was going to be one of those bland sterile productivity hack videos - and then it ended up being the most fucking charming thing I’ve ever seen.

This would be such an insanely good sci-fi movie, in the 50's. 21'st century guy, uses 50's technology not only shows the people of that decade his reaction to the technology that they already know, but also show them glimpses of everyday life and everyday technology in the 21'st century.

fun part is that most of modern things wee are so use to today , exist only 10 years , i know some exist for 20years , but wery small persentage use them back then and internet 20years a go suck , just like the cd player ,, was invented in late 70is , but majority start using it in the 90is ,

That was great and I loved watching it, but I'd love to see a behind the scenes on all the times you had to cheat. I have a prediction that the audio wasn't recorded on tape and the plane was impossible without a phone or computer but would like to be wrong! Also sad you didn't wear 50s clothes. Would love to see another year!!

This is my first time seeing this dudes videos. Its quite well done considering the limitations of 1950's tech and the film is so so vibey and gorgeous. However, I wish he had addressed a more fundamental dynamic here, which is how much technology influences our relationship to our routines and methods of work, recreation & overall sense of life. Guess if he wanted to research the topic He would've had to find a book on it. Also, should've gone to see a show at some old jazz hall in NY. Still a great video tho

I used all these technologies even though I’m only 46. My Mamaw was very old fashioned and only got running water installed when I was in college. It’s fascinating to see how far we’ve come and how convenient things are now.

You could still time your coffee making to the second, all you need is a clock or watch it's been the same technology since the 16 to 1700s as long as it's mechanical you're still following the rules.

As a sexagenarian, and unlike Liam, I was there, and I can confirm that, generally speaking, SMOKE coming out of TV's 📺🔥 was NOT a feature of the 80's! ... Well, at least not very often! EDIT: I can confirm that "Barbie" is indeed NOT a movie from the 80's, and as per Liam's caption, he'll be hearing from my lawyer! 🤣
