I laughed when you mentioned New York City traffic. It's the only place I've ever been where it's faster to just get out of the car/Uber/cab and walk to your destination. It doesn't matter how far away it is. It'll still be faster to walk. (Or, if you're lucky, the subway might be a good option, too.)

I grew up going there with my family, sometimes after films (or before hand and my father (back when he was able-bodied) would sneak some into the theater in his giant coat 😅) or coming home from an adventure and taking the six train (pre-Q train!!).
