I believe there are people who can draw acurately just by their eye and they are amazing, but i also believe there are people, who are not able to do that like them. Those people are more like the need a little help with those instruments. Both the ways goes to the pyramid top. All is possible. Just make art and make people happy.

So far I love this app and the price is more than generous for what it does. I wrote this kind man some time ago while living on Catalina Island where I couldn’t get delivery by USPS and I no longer could drive into town. He couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful and offered to ship as I needed. Since I was planning a move I waited instead to relocate rather than put him to such effort but I then purchased his dividers which are also well made and quite fairly priced. There is one small request I’d make with the app which I didn’t see and that is the addition of a vertical plumb line. It’s not a deal breaker and the app is wonderful just as it is. I completely support this company and would purchase anything they bring to market. Two years ago I was also an Android user and still am, so hope there will follow a version for all to use which I’d requested under my other account as you can see below with Loquacious One! Android is sometimes the red headed stepchild of tech. 😮 🤭 😱

Can you tell me why this technique is actually necessary? If you’re a proper artist you don’t need this device. What’s wrong with your own proportional divider.....your eyes ! The danger with using photographs is the distortion that lenses tend to make, especially long focus lenses. Extreme wide angle lenses are the worst. It’s a dead give away for experienced onlookers when they see a painting that’s been directly copied from a photo. It looks false and faked. That’s because the eye sees differently from a camera lens. I suggest if you must copy from a photo make sure the photo has been taken with either a 40mm lens or 50 mm. These lenses are closest to what the human eye sees. Better still, draw from life.....it’s much more honest. Take drawing lessons to learn about how to get proportions correctly and like this artist says, negative space is probably the most helpful clue to use in drawing.

what if , after you sized it up and the opposite side is pretty wide now but you want it actually a different size on paper ...... how would you do that

I recommend measuring a lot to begin with to avoid frustrations and giving up....Then measure less, and less over time....Keeping on drawing is the main aim....You'll need measuring tools less and less as you develop your geometry eye.
