I'm trying to take off those bolts bit but they keep spinning. Any way to keep them from spinning?
@GarageDoorGuidanceКүн бұрын
Pain in the butt to get them off from that point. I’ve cut them off with a grinder and replaced with new. You can try clamping with vice grips one side as well

To remove that part away from the header do you need to do something special like secure the bar or something cause I need to remove the header because is sagging. Please let me know thanks

You should NOT do this! I've been an Overhead Door Tech for over 20 years and this is stupid. Take the tension off the cables by putting the bars in the spring and loosening the set screws. That way if your bar gets knocked out you don't lose your goddamn fingers. Better yet, do the REALLY smart thing, don't mess with them at all, call someone

Worked for me! I didnt need to use vise grips though with the door down, there was no reason to hold it up. Other videos show the fix with the door in the up position but it seems way easier with it down because its like one wrap around the wheel instead of several were you have to keep tension on it. Anyway, glad I didnt have to call a repair service so thank you sir, I salute you.
@GarageDoorGuidance18 күн бұрын
With it down you have the tension to deal with usually, which is my guess why the other guys do it with it open. ( plus a lot of the time the cable comes off when it’s opened vs closed )

Can't even recall where / how I got this one little garage door remote opener... But it's got the 'coin-battery' on the inside, & it contains 2 main activator buttons at the top portion of the device, & then the bottom section contains just 1 single button as well as this panel of 12 itty bitty little switches with the very 1st switch (1) labeled with 'on' above the number 1... & then numbers 2 -11 are just labeled numerically with the 12th switch containing, just like number 1's 'on', shows the letters: "KE" above the 12... I wonder how exactly I'm supposed to go about syncing it up to use with my older craftsman opener..I'm pretty sure I USED to have it programmed at one point just fiine but I can NOT recall how I actually did it ...

The only thing I felt like you didn’t say was to finish the video by letting me know how tight to put the new chain. And can you just keep retightening them until they just break some day or will it make some ridiculous noises before breaking?
@GarageDoorGuidance26 күн бұрын
I don’t remember saying it or not but usually about as tight as a bicycle chain, when the chain losens over the years it typically indicates a breaking / shifting gear. Tightening it after that fact speeds up that process of the gear fully breaking so I normally tell people to leave it be
@NajRellim27 күн бұрын
One of my center #1 hinges broke. I went to the dealer and bought a replacement, a slightly heavier gauge model that he recommended. I replaced the broken one with the new one, tried the door, and panels started bending and the door would not go up or down. Both the new hinge and the other old hinges have screw slots to allow for adjustment. Is there a specific sized gap that should be created between the panels when replacing the hinges to allow them to open and close? If so; none of these DIY hinge replacement posts mention it.
@GarageDoorGuidance27 күн бұрын
It shouldn’t have made a difference if it was the same hinge just thicker. Any chance you can send me a photo of the issue ? I’ve heard this before. Garagedoorguidance @ yahoo

Tried using 14 gauge hinges and the garage door would only open halfway before crushing into the top of the door jamb. I think I need 16 or 18 gauge because of this.
@GarageDoorGuidanceАй бұрын
I’m not following to be honest, the wood frame ?
@femiraji6294Ай бұрын
Yeah, the wood frame. The door is of Amarr so the old hinges are pinch proof. Absolutely hate those hinges so I got 14 gauge standard hinges as a replacement and I think they were too wide. So I'm thinking of trying 16 or 18 gauge.
