Turning 65 in October. So Grateful to have discovered your channel. I was so curious regarding Supplemental vs Advantage? Portability vs Non Portability? Supplemental is looking good.

I learned so much from these sessions. A few of my older friends took that Advantage plan and they are having financial issues because of it. At first they thought it was great to have $0 premium AND get a gym membership and $ for OTC meds or food. None of which helped their medical expenses at all. They didn't go to a gym before Medicare, and they aren't going now, but they like to brag that they have a "free membership". They don't like the doctors in their plan, and they know they aren't getting the care they need. Now they want to complain how bad medicare is. I have on friend that took the N plan and she has no complaints at all. Fortunately because of her I knew there was more to know so I started searching Google to find out about the Advantage and the Supplement plans...boring research, but then I found this site and got information that made it so easy to understand... I admit I was suspicious so watched other videos and confirmed what I learned here, then I got the book from Medicare to see it all in writing from them...I had a call with Justin from the Medicare School, which I admit I didnt want to do because I hate sales calls, but it wasnt a sales call.. I learned even more from him. I wanted to go with supplemental plan N for a few years and then move to G when I got older...and he simply said, you can do that if someone will "underwrite" you. Oh hell no I'm not letting an insurance company make decisions about my healthcare...so now I'm taking the G even if it's $40 more.

Just to sum up this video, here is my take on it. 1) In order to have an open access to doctor's, I have to pay about $250 a month in premiums? 2) And if you are on an advantage plan, the doctor's are not portable? Oh my, that can't be good. Limited network on Advantage plans? I have a PPO and have access to about 30 to 40 Cardiologists to choose from, I just need one! I also have access to approximately 16 hospitals in a 10 mile radius that will accept my plan. No complaints here.

Also, you don't have to get referrals on a PPO. I think that PPO's are greatly underrated......SD

What if you sre still on insurance because you still work but of course at 65 you automatically get a medicare hospital care. So when do you get meducare part B
@delype70
@delype70 6 ай бұрын
It is my understanding you have to go on part B the same time you start part A and if you don’t, in order to receive part B you have to pay back premiums. The Social Security office should have sent paperwork before you became eligible for Medicare, that gave you the option to participate in part B. You need to call SS and ask them.

The previous info is not necessarily correct. If you are insured through your work and it has more than 19 employees, you can probably stay on your employer-provided plan. My husband and I signed up for A at 65 just to get our names into the system and get Medicare numbers, but we did not sign up for B plus the supplemental and drug plans until a few months before he was going to retire. Ask your employer what their age 65 rules are and how long their coverage continues after your retirement date. Allow for a few months of overlap if you can because there are likely to be errors made during some part of the process. There are videos on this channel that answer your question. If you can, attend free seminars provided by reputable companies and brokers and “do your homework” so that you choose the best coverage for you on the correct timeline. Whatever you choose when you sign up will affect you forever.

If I have plan G and I decide to live in Phillipines to survive with my pension solely, can I still use the Medicare the same way?
@todddunn945
@todddunn945 6 ай бұрын
No. However, a G plan does provide a foreign coverage benefit of 80% of costs up to a lifetime limit of $50,000 for medically necessary emergency treatment. There is also a $250 deductible. Medical treatment must begin within 60 days of the start of your trip. So if you are overseas you can go to a foreign hospital and get up to your lifetime limit of coverage. However, that coverage is paid to you by reimbursement, so you pay the bill then submit it to your G plan. In summary, if you move to the Philippines, you will have emergency coverage from your G supplement for the first 60 of you time there, then no coverage at all from Medicare or your supplement. After the first 60 days there you could drop both your original Medicare and your supplement. However, if you ever return to the US you will have no coverage until January 1 of the year after your return. Also, when you restart medicare you will likely have a penalty for lack of creditable coverage added onto your Medicare premium for the rest of your life and you will also have penalty added to the premium for a part D drug plan. You will also likely find it impossible to get a supplement plan unless you move to one of the four states where medical underwriting is not allowed. Alternatively you could get a Medicare Advantage Plan, but you will still have the penalty added to your Part B premium and the part D coverage part of the Advantage plan. The only way around that is to continue to pay your Medicare Part B, supplement and Part D premiums. To do that you will need to maintain an address and bank account in the states.

I’m 62.2 years old. When will be the right time to start planning for all this confusing plans of Medicare. Looks like every year the government chance plans are they doing this in purpose to confuse us?
@busygal1959
@busygal1959 6 ай бұрын
Nope we aren't that important to play games with us like that. I started learning about it at 63 knowing I had 2 years to go and there would be changes. Now I'm 64 and ready to jump in. You know it's your responsibility to educate yourself on the things that directly affect you. I found these sessions so helpful for clarifying what I didn't (or couldn't) understand. Knowledge is power. Watch these videos, but don't waste the agents time you got 3 years and there will be changes. They are going to change Part D next year. So again the government is not trying to confuse you, you just don't know what you don't know, and there will be no excuse not to know if you watch these sessions.
