Hi, watched this video several times ans really like your board and sounds very much! I'm planning on building a new board for my U2 tribute, so I'm still learning. Have 2 Tones pedals too, but my 2 Ruby's are also sound awesome. Question, what about buffers. Are you using one? Jason from Vertex said, every rig needs a buffer. So I was looking for their buffer interface. What are your thoughts? Much appreciated! Grtzzz Leon

@@lightfootfx Did you ever test the Quad cortex vs Fractal ? I have the quad cortex but i felt it was not helping me on the right hand playing, maybe i got a faulty one. And i was wondering how the fractal compares with quad cortex. But from the videos i watch , fractal seems like a much serious and devoted brand manufacturer , the consistency of the tone seems overall perfect.

If you wanted to a/b between this and the Dream would you consider rethinking the order of pedals and go in mono to each, followed by stereo effects? It’s a problem I’m trying to figure out currently…
@lightfootfx5 күн бұрын
When you say a/b do you mean like a full stereo rig as if you had two amps? If so yes I would split the signal and run each half into the mono into each pedal and then those into your stereos effects, and split the stereo effects before the amp sims and run mono in on each side.

I have the 70th CS Broadcaster with Blackguard 50-51 Pups, I also felt that it could use a little more chime and sparkle. But I personally think that chime and sparkle are easier to find in overall telecaster tone rather than smooth and full body so I kept the original pu in. I also brought it to compare to the Custom Shop 52 Telecaster and mine was so much louder and fuller plug in so I kept it.
@lightfootfx13 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing! It’s funny you should mention I ended up putting the stock pickups back in and still running them to this day, something magical was lost and it’s back now haha those 50-51 pickups have some mojo.

@@lightfootfx I agree with you. I think that Fender tele single coils are range into 3 stage of sound spectrum from chimey to dark, Twisted tele->Nocaster->Black Guard 50-51. However Changing to lower Capacitor value lets higher frequencies in. I think it will be fun much less expensive to experiment if you want Blackguard 50-51 but with more high frequencies. I also have a custom shop strat Fender El Diablo and have read that this model comes with higher value capacitor and while I compare it to my 1979 and 1977 strat, the CS is much darker sounding, much rounder and full body lowend. It probably from the help of higher capacitor value. CS is .1 and The 70s strat were .047 if I remember correctly.

I went to the guitar store yesterday. They didn’t have the White Falcon, but I got to play an ES345. Man, that was something. Have added it to my shortlist. Any thoughts on how one would decide on WF vs ES? Sounds like you have both?
@lightfootfx17 күн бұрын
Hey! Yeah I did have both, I actually sold my ES style guitar. The falcon has the “Gretsch sound” it’s hard to describe it has a growl and cut that no other guitar can do, that can also make it a 1 trick pony but a great one! The es style is probably a bit more versatile especially with PAFs installed, that’s like every classic guitar track. If your playing worship music or ambient I would give the Gretsch an edge because it will usually be cleaner and have more chime and high end.

Just a thought do you still have a fractal FM9 - would be awesome to see a video using Tonex in front of your FM9 - I use it in front of my AXE III Turbo but not sure if I am using it to its full potential and grid tips for the FM9 on Axe-edit - I think I have a phase issue - I am only using 1 Tonex pedal - does that sound like an issue just using 1 Tonex pedal or I am imagining it :) thanks much
@lightfootfx21 күн бұрын
Using one Tonex pedal shouldn’t cause a phase issue if your running it mono, phase issues can occur if your summing stereo effects to mono or running two different Tonex pedals in stereo. I haven’t thought of trying that out but I’ll see what I can do.

I’m curious, as you mentioned Duesenberg, which models have you played? I’m torn between the Duesenberg Joe Walsh signature and this double cut WF. Both sound amazing clean and can rock’n roll very well. The Duesenberg is probably the more versatile as it has a huge tone range (very active and useful tone control). Clean, it sounds heavenly.
@lightfootfx22 күн бұрын
I played a star player tv and a fullerton elite which kind of looks like the Joe Walsh double cut. I would say the Duesenberg is the more versatile guitar, it handles higher gain better I feel like and has great cleans like you said. The Gretsch just has that signature Gretsch sound but that can make it less versatile.
@woutersamaey857423 күн бұрын
Could you make the double cut come closer to the single cut using EQ? It sounds more trebly and less bassy, which may be easily adjusted using EQ. What do you think? To my ears the resonating of the single cut is quite annoying, so if EQ can fix the “thinner” sound, that would make me super happy.
@lightfootfx23 күн бұрын
Hey thanks for watching! I did find that I could tweak the eq to add more low end and get it very close to the big body sound wise. The only thing that gets lost is not having the physical feel of the big body, but sound wise I could get them sounding practically the same and I have 0 regrets going with the double cut sound wise. Hope that helps!

After watching your video even though I’m running stereo ins and outs, I’m convinced I’m missing something as mine doesn’t sound like this. When I turn down the left or right channels I still hear the other (hearing left when it’s all the way down.) I’m using stock tone factor IRs. Im going mono through my overdrives into a strymon mobius (mono into mobius) then in and out into a Strymon BS and TL and finally stereo in to the ACS1. Am I missing something?
@lightfootfx25 күн бұрын
Hey man, that all sounds right, I have noticed even when one side is down I’m getting a very very low reading on that side but I don’t hear it compared to the other side so haven’t given it much thought. Make sure your interface isn’t blending the channels or similar in whatever Daw you may use.

Any advice on getting the head room to match on the dream and ruby? I have a veritas portlander and whenever I seem to do just a clean boost the dream seems to get a lot louder than the ruby, but if I dial them in with the boost on, then the dream sounds quieter than the ruby when the boost is off. I think is mostly the bass of the dream that gets louder but dialing the bass know back doesn't seem to fix it either
@lightfootfx28 күн бұрын
Interesting, I would make sure the gain is set similar between the 2 of them, since the dream is getting louder when you boost it, that makes me think it’s set cleaner than the ruby so it has more headroom, I would increase the gain more on the dream and then lower the output to match the ruby still and you should be able to get to a point where when you hit the boost they both breakup equally and have pretty close volume. You’re essentially just trying to get the headroom’s to match before any pedals get pushed into them, but they won’t be perfect matched unfortunately but usually very close. Hope that’s helps!

Friend, since I'm looking to go from ACS1 to 2 ToneX One, I already have the Stereo canvas, doesn't it correct the phase? Or should I necessarily get a Diso + Polrev?(I ask this in this video because I had heard that with the UA FX amps there was also a phase issue)
@lightfootfxАй бұрын
Hey man thanks for watching! You are correct you will need something like the diso+ with pol reverse mod. The normal walrus canvas does not fix the phase issues that come with the UAFX amps.
@johannmunoz_gtrАй бұрын
@@lightfootfx Last question bro. So the phase issues does not occur with all amplifiers? (A guy on Facebook has two ToneX (big) and he uses Canvas stereo and says he has no phase problems)
@lightfootfxАй бұрын
Sorry I misread your original question. Yes for 2 Tonex pedals it depends on the captured amps, any amp capture you use will have the original phase the real amp has, so it depends on the luck of the draw in which amps you pair, some will be out of phase and some will be in phase. I use the tone factor ac30 and pro sonic captures, these are both out of phase with each other in real life and so they are on the dual Tonex as well. So you might be safer getting a diso with polarity mod, unless you know for sure the 2 captures you will be running are in phase.

Hi. Enjoyed the video. I purchased a TONEX pedal recently to play at my church. I have been using a Helix. I went to use the TONEX for the first last night but the volume was so low I couldn’t use it. Are you playing direct in at your church? I’m not sure if I’m missing a setting on the TONEX that I need to change. The sound guy had to gain it up significantly to even hear it.
@lightfootfxАй бұрын
Hey man! I am running direct into the sound board at my church. I set the preset volume on the patch first and then use the main volume knob for extra adjustments. If you are too quiet try turning up the preset volume and then turn up the external volume knob as well.

You don’t need a line isolator, you only need that for long runs like going from a stage to the soundboard.
