That type of non-compete was ruled unenforceable in court a couple years ago. They can try, but won't be able to enforce it in court. The sales comp thing though...... Yeah, you need to find out what the targets are and what percentage of your peers hit it last year.

Everything she says is true. However, when it comes to "company culture", let me translate that for you from corporate-ese: I can't control your thinking from home. So I need you in the office to do stupid "team bonding" events and pep rallies to make you loyal to the company. And we can't effectively do that from home.

Question: I'm a woman with, let's say generous endowments. Button downs never work on me, and even jackets are hard because they rarely fit right over the girls. Any helpful suggestions?

Didn't non-competes get thrown out in a lot of states recently? I am Canadian, and they are pretty much unenforcable here unless they pay you for the duration of the non-compete. Plus they must be extremely specific. They can't say things like "forbidden from working in the aerospace sector." In Ontario they cannot even be written in the contract. A friend of mine got a full year salary after a "constructive dismissal". Also, for hourly workers, a non-compete can not be enforced at all. A lot of work places threaten ex employees and I think a lot still fall for it which sucks because in my experience the labor board is very helpful and will answer questions over the phone and tell you exactly where to find the clause in the labor code that apply.

I feel that most of us can agree how frustrating it is that the job market is so impersonal now. I remember when we transitioned from paper applications to online. It's been downhill ever since. It makes a difference when someone comes into your office to turn in an application; how they present themselves, how they speak, their confidence, the shaking of the hand, the introduction. No one needed 2000 applicants to find a well qualified candidate. It's absurd and ridiculous. Now I'm discovering after all this time, that this ATS doesn't even do well reading my resume because it has more than one column of information. So I've essentially wasted 6 months of applying to jobs, not because I'm unqualified, but because my resume was too organized. No one should have to "perform tricks" just to get their resume seen. And again, NO EMPLOYER NEEDS 2000 APPLICANTS TO HIRE ONE PERSON! You don't need ATS, you need a competent recruiter who isn't too lazy to read the applications. "Recruiters don't have time to read through all the applications." It's your actual JOB! I've never heard such nonsense. How about don't accept more applications than you can handle, and it will also stop wasting the time of job seekers filling out your hour long online forms. How about job seekers don't have time to apply to jobs that will never even see their resume. How about that for truth? My goodness. We already have to fight against the thousands of fake job postings, and the ones where the company already knows who they are going to hire but are required to post the position anyway. The job is really going to a current employees friend, but you've got job seekers wasting precious time, getting their hopes up for a position that's not actually available. I thought I was doing something when I went to a job fair last week. I said oh man, I get to see people face-to-face and talk about my experience and give them my resume, etc. Got there, and almost everyone said the same thing, go online to complete the application, and if you are a good fit, a recruiter will contact you. None of them were actual recruiters. None of them had any power. So, really, job fairs are mostly company reps, just passing out free pens and brochures. We're too old to be playing these kinds of games.

You hitting those cocktails before recording too? Darling, there is not a single thing that is an "A-line" on that silhouette. There would be a lot of fullness that would resemble a fluffy doll skirt or poofy pin up dress if it were an A-line.

We normally work a 4-6 day week. 7-8am to midnight. Off days are usually travel days. Was last home in August, and I will be back in mid-December. Am compensated extremely well for it. Been doing it for decades and love it.

How do you explain a 90 day job which was advertised as a perm full-time role but turned out to be a 3 month contract? I was able to get this job through a recruiting agency. Is it legal for them to advertise this short contract role as a perm placement?
