Firstly, I appreciate the effort you have made with these instructions, I have just installed the Omtech 4 wheel rotary and had no luck with the setup proceedures as described by several videos, all different steps. finally i gave up and contacted Omtech, the answer they gave me worked first time and is repeatable. I recognise that your machines firmware is at least 2 years older than mine so things will have changed. My machine is an Omtech 50W Blue BED 300 X 500 with Ruida control, firmware version RDLC-V8.00.70 My initial steps:- Step 1 - In XY mode, home the machine to X0 Y150 (bed size is 300 x 500) Step2 - Power OFF!!! Omtech's instructions start here:- Step 3 - replace the Y cable with the Rotary Cable. Step 4 - Power ON and wait!!! The rotary machine tries to HOME, this is OK, DO NOT stop the process, WAIT, it will spin in both direction slowly, i assume to search for HOME, then it spins fast and Zeroes the Y and keeps the X setting. for me it is 150. There is no need to disable the XY homing tabs, this defeats the purpose and is against Omtech's instructions. Now I install the Rotary settings that I have previously saved and adjust the Rotary setup. When I am finished with the Rotary I reinstall the default XY settings from my saved file and shut down. When I next power up the machine resets to the default XY position. As You so rightly said, it is important to save the default settings before you do anything to that file. Here is a video of the process www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/vucq3hag4p19700b2ynqm/IMG_1288.MOV?rlkey=6suyajce2u4lxjzrxrjrcldho&st=07apbi9a&dl=0

Thanks for creating this video! Very helpful!! Does toggling air assist on and off change from high pressure to low pressure? Or does toggling off turn off the air completely?

Turn off the air completely if you are using only the small pump if you leave the small pump on and if you add another additional line from your compressor will be getter

If you use 18 gauge wire it increases the resistance slightly which may impact the motor speeds, I would use the correct gauge wire.

Great tutorial! I'm 2 years late to the party but are you still using this setup? I was considering doing the same as I didn't want the compressor running all the time so having the small air pump running for engraving and only use the compressor for cutting seems like a good idea. Any negative effects on the air pump with the high back pressure from the compressor? Are you still using the 10gallon compressor or have you upgraded to a larger machine? I'm getting an AF2080-80w and don't know if the 1hp 10gal is enough of a compressor for that machine, any thoughts on compressor size?

You might consider cutting some discs that fit into the bracket where you’re using tape. Since you’d be cutting the disc with the laser, you could also engrave a cross hair and some concentric rings that you could use to judge how off-center the beam is. Great stuff, BTW. I also have the 50 watt and this playlist is a goldmine. Thanks!
