I was wondering, can you do aircrete in Quebec, Canada? Can this work with a ciment basement and a second floor? How does it work for electricity?

Way too expensive for basically a shed. And just like a shed, it doesn't have a kitchen or bathroom either! Except a shed cost much less, much much less!
@johnatyoutube20 сағат бұрын
This is beautiful but very expensive for a fancy building the size of a shed which you could build for much less. And it has no plumbing so it's not really liveable. But, people don't generally build sheds as homes or shelters from severe weather. With the lightweight construction of the material in this very tiny structure, what is its durability in the severe storms that hit Hawaii? And does the material have a hurricane rating? Knowing Hawaiian building standards, it must have been permitted as an ag building. Have you actually built homes there?

How much does it cost if you don't have a bunch of free labor for KZbin? Plus, it's WAYYY cheaper to buy and build on the Big Island. 90% of cost is labor. This is misleading. Still cool but....

This content appeared in my feed today, prompting me to explore your website. After four plus decades in the natural and traditional design-build professional sector, I have developed a keen awareness of "Greenwashing," means and methods of industrial materials applications, particularly regarding materials that lack genuine natural origins, sustainability, and ecological viability. The use of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) in your product raises significant concerns, as it is associated with one of the most environmentally detrimental industries globally ever known and still to this day, regardless of the minimal quantities anyone may claim to utilize. Additionally, I find it perplexing that you assert on your website that "Domegaia coined the term Aircrete in 2014." My uncle, an alternative architect proponent in the 60s and 70s and author, discussed this material extensively in the 1970s and 1980s, and its existence dates back to the 1880s, with various patents for different methods emerging as early as the 1890s. It is misleading to assert that you have "coined a phrase" that has been in common use for over a century... Furthermore, I would advise against using the term "fireproof," as it is more accurate to describe the material as fire-resistant at it very best formulation as not cement is actually fireproof at all (other than true refractory cements) and most are greatly degraded in a fire to the point of losing structural stability typically needing to be torn down or extensively and expensively repaired after a conflagration. Your methods have not been in practice for more than a few decades, and other variations of this material face challenges such as moisture retention interstitially, and mold growth, particularly in humid climates like Hawaii. While these issues can be mitigated, the use of an ecologically sound cementitious material may offer advantages over these highly toxic industrial and ecologically unviable OPC system. However, it is essential to recognize that these methods do not surpass the effectiveness of traditional vernacular techniques that have been validated over millennia. Unfortunately, many DIY enthusiasts attempting to innovate often overlook these established practices or even bother to attempt learning them because of the time and effort that may take. I'm sure my post will not be in the public view for too long, which is fine and I do hope you block it, as the message was actually just meant for just the both of you to perhaps consider reexamining what you do, how you do it and what claims you make about it....

This is a good point and the answer is that aircrete is used extensively in cold places. I know they use a plasticizer to keep water intrusion to a minimum. Aicrete is HUGE in plenty of cold places in Europe and The Middle/Far East.

This is probably going to end up moldy and damp and abandoned within a year like every other aircrete project ive aeen in this area. Not great for the climate, and no roof for water catchment either.

Very cool and I got some good ideas! I build high end custom homes. People or person commenting that 100/sf is expensive (especially in Hawaii and especially for a small structure) needs to go sober up 😂 If I build something like this on my property, I’d use the basic technique with the form (brilliant and that drill bender is rad) but the structure would be more like a ferro cement boat with wire and rebar (super strong) then cover with aircrete for insulation….because Santa Barbara has earthquakes.

When ever there is sanding required. I suggest wet scrubbing. While the stucco/drywall mud/wood patch is half dry, us a large sponge to smooth or texture the finish. It does not make a mess and it is super time saving and you don't have to wear dust masks.
