rob, Where is Hawk Ridge located?
@robonbikes
@robonbikes 3 күн бұрын
East Duluth. It runs between Lester Park on the east, and Amity St on the west. Most of it parallels East Skyline Parkway. If you’re riding it out and back a good spot to park is in Lester Park, where you’d take Lester River Trail up and connect to Hawk Ridge. Or, Snively Trail Parking at the nexus of the Snively Trail and East Skyline Parkway is right at the eastern point of Hawk Ridge.

Homebrew was the trail I rode the most during my time in Duluth as a UMD student and to this day is still my favorite blue trail. So many optional lines to progress on and level up your rock slab riding. Rudy has those locals lines, would never have thought of some of those, way to give that one a go! Some new additions in this video there since I’ve ridden it and more plans for new features has me stoked to ride this classic again!

You captured the essence of Home Brew: “so many optional lines to progress on and level up your rock slab riding.” It’s such a jam packed 2.5 miles, yet offers flow in spots as well. Good to know it’s in such capable hands with Rudy and the rest of the COGGS crew!

4:45 they absolutely can and do it well especially if you raise the pressure, having some summer tires make for roads also help. You will lose some top end due to a little extra drag and you accelerate slower due to the mass but they do coast really well and can have pretty low rolling resistance. You can get one with full suspension under 500$.

2:29 never, the bikes under 700$ are good enough for almost anything and you can upgrade parts later.

Loved your video. I ride in a lot of trees, like some of your shots.when the drone is tracking you how do you keep it from hitting trees?
@robonbikes
@robonbikes 21 күн бұрын
Thanks! The drone has built-in obstacle avoidance. The Mini 3 Pro can see forwards, backwards, and down; so, you need to be mindful if it is going sideways or up, where it can definitely run into objects. And while it's not perfect (mine has clipped small twigs), it's pretty solid. You can set what behavior it will take if it does detect an obstacle (fly around the obstacle, stop completely, etc.). The Mini 4 pro improved on this and it has omnidirectional sensing, so pretty cool! The bigger challenge when in a lot of trees, is that as you go around a corner, if the drone loses line-of-sight of the object even briefly, like if a tree blocks its view of you, it will stop and cancel the tracking.

Putting the down in downcountry in this one, way to check off the gnarly trails in Piedmont's NIMBY Cluster on just 120 mm of suspension travel!! Great overview of Redhead MTB Park, and excellent message about supporting the local economy while you’re up here riding the range. Successful first ride here considering you both rode your bikes back up to the trailhead, ripped my front tire to shreds and had to do the walk of shame out of the mine pit my first ride here. The views here just can’t be beat and the drone shots are epic. Charging hard blind down orange crush, that’s a sketchy and tricky jump line that takes several laps to figure out! I started riding Carver like 7 years ago now. I live minutes away. Even just prior to covid there were almost no features there. It was like 99% flow without any jumps. The skills park is new, the jump track is new. They've added a bunch of optional lines with more technical stuff. It is a great little park that takes like a half hour to do a full loop, and you can easily repeat smaller sections unlike many of the other, bigger, parks.
