@@Emceemur Very awesome! I remember being just blown away by the graphics the first time I saw it in the mini-golf arcade at the age of 8 or 9 back in the mid-80's. Never was too good at it though due to the crazy speed and chaos of everything constantly coming at you. You did remarkably well during your video stream 🙂

Any game that is $10 or below doesnt sell unless you bundle it with a console. Pricecharting is usually a good resource but for cheap games it isn't accurate. I know this video is 4 years old but what it looks like you got here was a bunch of stuff the guy couldn't sell.

@@Shinobi001 Yes, you are correct. Nothing under $10 is worth anyone's time anymore. Now, my perspective here didn't reflect that I was keeping a lot of this and it should have. For resale, this lot wasn't really ideal. But it was a solid grab from a volume perspective. As I recall I definitely didn't lose money but ended up with free games which is usually my objective. Selling anything nowadays is almost pointless. eBay fees are more numerous and higher than ever. Shipping costs go up twice annually. I've actually begun pivoting the show back to a collecting aspect and not a reseller one. Thanks for watching this!

Being on a handheld, it physically hurt so much to play this but I HAD to. I adored how Mario returned to his side-scrolling roots. But I still despise the "New" naming convention.

I got that DS at a yard sale for 20 bucks mint in the box many years ago and I've always hung onto it. And this Mario game was a big deal in our house. It stands up to any other Mario installment you can think of, that's for sure. 👍

This was a childhood game of mine this and Mario Kart DS were not only my first Mario games but also my first Nintendo developed games, I ended up trading my original copies which I did regret but then I realized years later that those original copies were bootlegs my dad bought on eBay, we were both surprised but it all worked out in the end, I later bought official copies from my local flea market for $9 for the pair.

@@DavidMoul31 That's a fantastic flea market grab! Yeah, Mario Kart DS was also fantastic. A great installment and I really enjoyed it. I didn't get into the GBA or GameCube Mario Kart games anywhere near as much as the DS one.

been eyeing this controller at Walmart and was wondering if i should just get the more expensive wireless or the faster wired a and i think for pc i would choose the wired although wireless will probably be the best for a console since in a living room environment your a long way from a usb port of that console

That does make it tough if it's a distance thing. All my systems are close enough for me to use wired so I prefer it. But in today's living rooms with open concept builds and 80 inch tvs, wireless is the only sensible option. But yeah, this particular controller despite the wire, performs very well.

Visually and how it looks to play seems like this would totally be up my alley, but...your issues with the controls have me locking this into a "pick it up when it's cheap" mindset. Er, rather, cheapER because...I'm a cheapskate Also, how is "Skelethrone" NOT the title of a heavy metal album?

Good question! It has a certain metalocalypse quality to it doesn't it? The controls aren't bad once you figure em out BUT... I still can't shoot arrows so the controls aren't great. I could see a sale price on this game between $5-7 popping up at some point and it's worth that at least.

The game look great and rather interesting but torture myself after a hard day's work and stress, it's not my idea of fun. When you have only a couple of hours to play and family going on. Soul-like is a no-go. One can never finish the game, I tried.

I totally get that. Sometimes you gotta have a chill game. Like turn based RPGs, strategy or even some Animal Crossing. I never finished Dark Souls 1. It was maddening and not even because of the difficulty. Just the ridiculousness of the controls.

Symphony of the Night had nudity. Just look at the topless flower girls for example. Artistic or tasteful nudity used to be seen as appropriate in games as long there was nothing lewd about it.

As a kid in the early 80s I was obsessed with Gateway To Apshai on my upgraded Atari 400. Loved it so much I now have it on Evercade, C64 maxi and Atari 400 mini all acquired only this year! I was aware of the Temple trilogy but never had them or tried them before. As it comes included with the C64, I'm looking forward to finally exploring it. But first I am enjoying your presentation and demonstration of it. Nice pace and vibe. Thanks!

I really appreciate that! You're gonna love the Trilogy. And it works off D&D rules for the most part. It really set a standard for RPGs and I feel like so many people missed out on Apshai altogether. The Atari 400 definitely was a Cadillac!

@@Emceemur both are quite nice and beautiful, and were well-received(based on Steam and GOG reviews). the cutscenes and dialog does make people think of Catholic/Christianity, without using the cross(as a symbol) that resembles real-world Catholic/Christianity.

This review is honest but i think that you are missing some very important points, first thing is that you cannot compare this to a console which costs 4x the price just as you wouldn't have compared the GBA to the PS2 at the time. Second is that cartridges can be resold and for the most part hold value, digital games yes are convenient and numerous but they do not hold any value and once finished just stay in your library forgotten along with the rest of those impulse buys which were probably in hindsight a waste of money, now on pc this is fine but on switch the digital games are expensive. No the Evercade is not going to be on the same build quality as a major brand, but the thing is that everybody loves an underdog who is bringing something else to the table and it is still the cheapest(Legal) way to play retro games on physical media.

@@Rogueonepigeon It is definitely important to bring up costs, you're right. I did a follow up video on this where I dive deep on the costs of ownership vs Switch with NSO. Interesting results. I do hope Blaze gets their new unit out in November and that it's nicer quality. The Renovation collection that ended up coming out for Evercade earned my respect, NGL. Thanks for watching this!

That used to be the case in previous console generations, but nowadays, Nintendo is the ONLY one of the three console platform-holders that does -- Sony and Microsoft have been shutting out mature content more than ever, while Nintendo has been allowing quite a lot of mature titles on the Switch. Most, though, are like this: indie titles released without much fanfare. But if you check out the indie offerings, you'll find far more mature-rated titles than you'd expect, many of which are multiplatform but only available uncensored on Switch.
