I so remember this did in 2021, and what a slog that is, absolutely relentless, and it was seriously warm. I could see the Isle of Man. @@WainwrightWalksWiaLocalLad Magna Frisia, or Greater Friesland, was originally an area stretching from the Zwin in Belgium to the River Weser in Germany. The earliest mention of the Frisians comes from Roman sources, especially Tactticus, who describe them as a powerful group of tribes along the North Sea. After the fall of the Roman Empire, in the early Middle Ages, Friesland began to form its identity as a significant and independent territory under King Redbat. Boudica and Beowolf are said to be related to this strong Frisian lineage of tribal leaders. It is thought that the old friezes originally came from Denmark, Norway and Germany. tactticus describes them as a combative people who mainly engaged in farming in the summer and went on raids together with groups of Vikings in the quiet winter times.(from the book fryzen om uttens)
