Based on your requirement...i.e.if you work in transportation,then it will be helpful to find the traffic density,origin-destination route map etc.but you work in water resources engineer,it will be helpful to find out the area under cover by particular point(i.e.Near the dam site how many village are in the submergence area in Km) etc.

first of all,you downloaded the both tiles which you wants,then you will be mosaic the tiles,so it will be converted as single image..then you can identified your specify area.

use IMD dridded dataset for rainfall, you can calculate daily, monthly, seasonal and average annual rainfall and visualize into ArGIS using IDW or kriging
