Looked this up because I saw a train during a Dallas visit that went through the intersection at 6:23. It's such a unique way to do a crossing, by having it dance with the traffic signal cycle of an intersection. I was like "wait, did it just go through the middle of that intersection raw!?" But if you notice, the traffic lights are always in a state where no traffic can legally cross in front of the train when it comes through.

You're right, there is signal timing with the intersection lights. But going raw is fun too.

Great video! Super interesting to watch. I may have mentioned this before, but if not: have you considered coming down to Austin to make one of these POV videos on our regional rail line? It uses the same exact trains as the DCTA A-Train for which you already have a video, so getting the camera mounted shouldn't be a challenge. I think it would make for a cool video to add to this series. LMK what you think!

That’s FRA rule. DART doesn’t have that rule on light rail tracks.

being a dallas area resident for pretty much all of my life, i never did think anyone would have much interest in DART operations. i guess since i've lived around it all my life it never really seemed special enough to me to warrant a video like this and some of the discussions i've seen in the comments. do you operate the trains? i ask cause of the camera that seems to be mounted on the front of it.

Great video.....I lived in the Dallas/ Ft. Worth Metroplex from 2009 to 2015, and I rode DART trains many times as I lived in Lewisville which was really close to the North Carrollton Station.

I used to ride this route every day and looked for Knox-Henderson station a few times. You can see the air vent and the change from rounded to flat walls, but it's so bright in the train and you go by so quickly that it's really not that interesting, even if you do know about it. Still hoping they build the station one of these days, but I don't think it will happen any time in the near future.

I don’t care for the Dart light rail because to me essay problematic real system one the Homeless run it and control it to criminals run it and controlling it’s a death trap. I’ve been on plenty of rails, in other states that have the rail system and all of them are set up for ventilation meaning you can open the windows on dark you can open the windows and that is a trap that is a catastrophe waiting to happen and they know it😮😮

Its worst in this part of the country. Were stuck in this bad mindset that everything can be solved by adding a lane, until youve been building lanes on the same stretch of highway for a decade. Also people are generally scared to try out new things. Too comforted with living in a wastefully large house and an unnecessarily big yard.

If I recall, while this line was being built there was some preliminary talk of the line looping up to Grapevine. The put the turnouts in just in case. However, that conversation quickly died so we have those 2 stubs. Now with TexRail going up there I doubt these will ever be used.

I always wanted to know where the entrance to the actual subway station would have been because obviously the one going into city places pretty massive. I figured they would have a similar escalator setup potentially on both sides of Central Expressway.
