Dude, I like all of your timestamps and how do you do that in the camera and all that?

@@Witheredbonnie295 Thanks. The timestamps do take a bit of extra time to create. Both the chapters (stations) and the extra timestamps I put in the comments. If you're asking how I add in the GPS overlay, the GoPro actually records the GPS data. Even more than what I show on the screen (like g-force, acceleration, horizon, angle, etc). So I just use the GoPro GPS data and add that over the video. That is why I have 2 videos for every ride, one with and one without the GPS overlay.

What are the turnouts at 1:36:00 and 1:41:00 supposed to be for? They are stubs going nowhere.
@MakeItWithCalvin5 ай бұрын
I would assume future-expansion. Cheaper to have that sitting there than to retrofit it later.

@@MakeItWithCalvin said, "I would assume future-expansion." To where? I can't find any future plans that DART has in the area.

If I recall, while this line was being built there was some preliminary talk of the line looping up to Grapevine. The put the turnouts in just in case. However, that conversation quickly died so we have those 2 stubs. Now with TexRail going up there I doubt these will ever be used.

That tunnel off to the right at 31:03 for maintenance crews or something? Some kind of evacuation path?
@TyrannoJoris_Rex5 ай бұрын
That the same tunnel coming back from the right at 33:04?

Those lead to the ventilation shafts. There is some electrical and maintenance equipment in there as well, not much though.

The tunnel goes super long without a station, did some nimby district force the train underground?

1:37:00 why is the speed lowered under 50mph? These long stretches look like they can take 65mph
@VideoGuy_TX Жыл бұрын
Not sure. This operator never got to any of the posted speeds. Maybe they were ahead of schedule. That specific section is going into a long curved section of track. But before that, it seems like they could have gone faster. I'm not too concerned with top speed. Especially in curves, I would prefer comfort.

The station approaches are really efficient too, is there atc or are the drivers and brake controls that good?
@VideoGuy_TX Жыл бұрын
I believe that is all driver, no automatic controls.
@OliversElevators Жыл бұрын
There's no automatic train operation -- everything is manually driven by human operators. I agree, the station approaches are pretty fast and efficient in this video, especially considering these trains only have 3 brake notches, but a lot of that has to do with the operator. Some operators, like the one driving the train in this video, like to come into stations pretty fast and hug the posted speed limits quite tightly, whereas others take things slower. The DART light rail timetables are pretty tight, though, so the operators can't dilly-dally too much or they'll start running late. A good measure of how early/late a train is running is what the LED passenger information displays at station platforms are doing when a train pulls in. If the displays are scrolling the "Arriving: Orange line train to DFW Airport station" message, the train is running on time; if the signs have already played through this message by the time the train arrives (usually they'll display "DART" and the current time after scrolling through the aforementioned Arriving message), the train is running late; if the signs are still displaying the next departure times (oftentimes you'll see the train currently pulling in listed on the signs as being 2 minutes away), the train is running early. This method works because the signs are programmed to follow and display each train's _scheduled_ arrival times at each station, so if a train isn't running to schedule, the signs won't reflect that, as they always run to schedule.

This light rail gets properly fast, maybe the fastest of any light rail in the Americas

It's top posted speed is 65 mph. I have seen it hit 67 a few times. I have a short that I'm going to post soon that shows what it looks like at 65 mph.

DART is fast but the train LRT thats the fastest is the LA metro C line. It’s automated and runs at complete grade separation.

While I was in Dallas for the eclipse with my friend we rode DART From Bachman as far as City Place but I have to say the network was quite nice. Not perfect, but not what you would necessarily expect in a car-centric city like Dallas either.

I don’t care for the Dart light rail because to me essay problematic real system one the Homeless run it and control it to criminals run it and controlling it’s a death trap. I’ve been on plenty of rails, in other states that have the rail system and all of them are set up for ventilation meaning you can open the windows on dark you can open the windows and that is a trap that is a catastrophe waiting to happen and they know it😮😮
