Why real and net to fish mini monsters ? Look at micro fishing in Japan where fishermen use basic tackles.

Trotting is a great way to fish. When I go after Grayling I seem to catch more Minnows and it's surprising the bait they can get in their mouth lol. Good video mate, tight lines

Brilliant - takes me back to fishing that section of the Wandle on my lunchbreak and after work in the early noughties. Never had a minnow though but did once get an orange koi on floating bread!
@DrewWithingtonКүн бұрын
The orange and white koi (6:41) has lived there for years. In the winter it lives in that deep pool, in the summer it lives just above the footbridge to the Merton Sainsburys. Funny as it has the Sainsburys colours. About 15lb. Bit of an angling challenge .....

This video brought back a memory for me. I can remember catching male sticklebacks, otherwise known as redbreasts, when I was young. There was a stream near to my gran's house that used to have plenty of them in it. I had a bamboo cane with a length of fishing line tied to it. I used bent pins as hooks and maggots as bait. I caught dozens of them and put them in a dried out empty paint tin and released them at the end of the day. Some of my best happy days! ...😃👍🏻

Dennis Flack is the man for small fish records. I remember seeing a very big minnow once that a snake had and dropped and some lads had it in a jam jar. It looked like a small tench and was almost black, not sure if it was poison that caused it to go black but it was a big one. We used to catch them from the same area and they were like gudgeon size and the males were a fantastic colour with red and white.

@matt01506Күн бұрын
Me too. They do look a bit like trout/salmon parr ! (It's funny what we do and think as childhood anglers. I netted a dead trout in the docks as a kid [it was exotic to me at that age] and put a hook length in its mouth to make it jump about whilst filming it on a borrowed cine camera !)
@Lionheart-n6m2 күн бұрын
Just found this channel. When I was your age you wouldn’t put your hand in the Wandle. The smell and pollution, nothing but rats lived there. Shows you how things can change in 50 years which was the last time I saw it. Good luck I will subscribe.

Caught some clonking great gudgeon over the years, they're few and far between though. What convinced me to take mini scales was getting an enormous spawn bound stickleback, it must have been near a record. Of course since I've taken scales I've never come across any mini monsters.

You are a true angler Alfie. We all like to "specialise," but appreciating all species is the mark of a passionate angler. If you want to see extreme "micro fishing," check out "tanago" fishing in japan with the beautiful floats and "Edo wazao" rods they use. TIGHT LINES MATE 🎣

There used to be (dunno now) massive minnows and gudgeon in the river annick and carmel in ayrshire scotland- as far as im aware the only two places in scotland to get them. Gudgeon maybe 5 inch long we caught on a wee tiny hook and tiny piece of worm. Im sure theyll be there still this was the 80s. Its cleaner now. Stone loaches too which arent common

Hi Alfie: "Dont know weather, you say, is it 'Guesting' mode were you were 'angling' !? P.s is it fishable around the Hackbridge/ Beddington Pk area on the 'R.Wandle' !?

Free fishing mate! I don’t know all the stretches, but this one isn’t controlled by a club as far as I’m aware, a lot of the wandle is free fishing!
