Great video alfie iv become a big fan of chasing stripys in the winter when the carp go silent please get DRENNAN TO MAKE THOSE FLOATS its very hard to get a inline perch bobber
@spyrothedragon2413Ай бұрын
lovely mate! Just a quick question about the paternoster setup for the live bait rig, could this setup be used with small deadbait roach and lobworms? Providing its fished in some form of flow so the bait can separate from the mainline?
@789jim8 ай бұрын
Great video and some excellent tips. One thing, what bait do you use and where do you keep it as you travel very light. ?

Interested to see your bait approach and how you hook either the dead baits or live baits? And would the paternoster work on a lake with no flow
@GillmanStudio8 ай бұрын
If Alfie doesn't reply, best way is through the upper lip with the hook point being uppermost. Nick it just behind the soft lip area where you feel it a little firmer. Very sharp hooks are a MUST. If you use a fine wire hook (but strong) and hook them carefully the live baits can often be removed alive and survive with no more than a piercing. When I live bait, most of the time the live bait survives unless it's taken by the predator.

Hey bud, been doing this tactic and it’s been working very well so thank you 👌🏻 keep getting deep hooked perch though, even when I’m striking the float quickly - are you hooking your live bait on though the mouth or dorsal?

what braid are you using mate ?

Cracker Alfie and thanks for holding the Perch with respect, it's important those who are in the public eye so to speak set the right standards with none of this mouth grabbing and hanging. Huge respect or that. Big Perch are my passion, I fish very similarly though mostly use the paternoster as I find the rovers like to sew me into any snag they can find. I don't use large bobbers though, I found some floats online that resemble big pole floats (up to 5g) and they have a removable orange tip with the hole designed to accept any 3mm glow sticks. That way I can switch from a standard tip to a glowy night light when the light drops off. I find the simple rule of bigger live bait = bigger Perch, not 100% of course but generally does the trick especially when they are grouped in various sizes. Look forward to the next one.

If you don’t mind me asking, where do you purchase the sliding bolo floats? Askari used to sell a semi inline chemical float that was perfect in 4-6 g sizes but they no longer seem to stock them. Thanks and all the best.

I know there is few clonkers knocking about in this carp lake I fished 5lb+ but they introduced cats some time ago I'm just wondering how to avoid them obviously when it's cold but any other tips how to pick out the perch
@rberto38048 ай бұрын
Are you using live baits on both setups? Do you fish for your live baits before you set out after the perch?
@alfierussellangler8 ай бұрын
Yes always catch baits first. From the same venue if live baiting allowed. And use them on both methods.
@rberto38048 ай бұрын
Thanks for reply Alfie. Its the same rule on my local pike and perch stretch. Sometimes, finding and catching the right stamp of bait fish can be the hardest part lol. I learn a lot from your videos, keep up the great angling and thanks for sharing 👍
