Hell yeah, I think you're the only one teaching Freecad for models that are actually complex and interesting.

Thank you, great to get some feedback like this as now I am looking at a model that I wasn't sure to do a tutorial on and now I'm going to do it :) :)

I would appreciate that if you make a tutorial on assembling aluminum extrusion frame.

I've been watching all your videos for a while but still a noob just wondering do you recomed to keep learning the old version or start brand new with release v1? Thanks for your help with this videos
@MangoJellySolutionsАй бұрын
Version 1 is much easier, the sketcher for one can constrain everything from one tool and the frustration of TNP has been vastly reduced. The series you are learning is still valid it's just that you will be searching for some of the options a bit. I do have a new series currently rubbing for v0. 22 dev / v1 cr (0.22 is version 1) but it's a different learning experience and concentrates on the tools and tackling modelling rather than workflows. I look to rehaul the older series and being it up to date.

How did you learn this sequence of steps?
@MangoJellySolutions2 ай бұрын
I original came from a number of other CAD and 3D packages. When I moved to freeCAD I had to figure out how to apply everything I learnt to this package. I learnt through hours of experimentation, failure and mistakes to make that transition. At the time there wasn't much documentation around regarding how to do such things, one of the reasons why this channel came into existence as I knew what pain I went through so I wanted to share the knowledge (I wish I made the channel back before the 0.18 release). Prior to that I had a very good mentor, I then went onto commissions and was teaching CAD to others. When you have a real life problem to tackle then it really helps with the learning. So I have knowledge of how to tackle many object, it's 'just' finding the right tools to fulfil the task.

The offset error only occurred for me between a thickness of 0.6 and 1.2 mm.

Sounds like there could be some surface intersections below and above that value. You can play with the surface properties and the tangency between the sketch that controls the peaks and dips of the surface for the grip and the angle it starts and ends to the cylinder.
