What always fascinates me about many of these videos is that jumpscares are rarely ever at the forefront of the fear factor. The most frightening moments tend to come from places where the threat of being jumpscared is present, but drawn out agonizingly long or sometimes just not paid off as a fakeout to keep you guessing. It's an important principle for most things in life that the threat of something can be more effective than it actually is in practice. I feel like I'm frightened more when I think I see a scare coming and then it doesn't happen, then happens later 2 or 3 more moments down the line.
