I rarely use a tent while stealth camping. I prefer stealth camping in the open, with a tarp incase of rain or a hammock if the terrain isn't flat. A tent doesn't give you the awareness of the surroundings. For wildcamping or stealth camping in remote places the tent looks great!

The only complaint or gripe I have about this tent is the entrance to the tent it doesn't have a two way zip so if your are cooking in the vestibule and it's really windy you can't just have the top part open to help with fumes or even with condensation only minor I know

Only downside I see from this bivi is you can’t lie in it on a fine night and have uninterrupted view of the stars. With this design and weight I know it’s cheap, but it seems to fall short of the lightweight of a true bivi while not providing the headroom space of a real tent.
@outdoorswithrichard
@outdoorswithrichard 16 күн бұрын
No bivi or tent will suit everyone and for all occasions, hence some people have 2-3 different tents etc. But for the price I think this bivi offers good value for money! 👍

As for coloured tents, I must admit that I mostly do hammock camps. Whilst it's not required to blend in with nature, I appreciate that other visitors may appreciate not seeing a shocking coloured tarp in the woods. Although on most occasions I set up my hammock out of view. I always go for a camouflage or army green tarp. Although, the only thing I have purchased that nearly resembles a tent is a green Alpkit hooped bivvi.. Great to see you out in your tent.. That was quite a risky stealth camp there Richard! I've worked on a few trout farms and there's nearly always someone wandering around checking things are ok, looking out for poaching etc. Well done, lol. Thanks for your comments! Its a great tent. Yu can make it bomb proof by buying the extra poles and double pole it. I find creating the vestibule is a wee bit messy but i will sort it out. It is possible to sit inside the vestibule on a Helinox chair and cook, once you have shifted the footprint away. I have only used it on a couple of trips it will be fine..

Great videos. I noticed that you purchased hillberge tents. If you only can have one, which one would it be?Niak , Allan or the unna. I know depends on what sort of CAMPING you do and whereabouts you mainly gonna use the tent. Myself, I just knew Woodland CAMPING but sometimes in tight places I love your views on which tent would suit this situation.. be honest I’m 10 toward the unna. Just wondering, can you get the 10 mil poles and mash inner. If you could help me, keep on making great videos
@outdoorswithrichard
@outdoorswithrichard Ай бұрын
Great question! To be honest I love the Hilleberg Unna, it’s easy to pitch, can be pitched pretty much anywhere, free standing and you have decent internal space where you can sit up, especially if you had to be in your tent for long periods of time! The Unna will also cope in pretty much any weathers! Some people think it’s not great in high winds due to its high sides, but Hilleberg recently up loaded a video of the Unna being tested in 60mph winds!! so that’s put those concerns to bed, here’s the link to watch that video kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJuxd36LZ5ybptEsi=t4sDXulcU0AJk0qC Also if you wanted even more strength in your Unna, you can double pole or buy the 10mm DAC poles, you could also upgrade your tent pegs! The Unna is great for one person, but would be a squeeze for 2 adults! The Unna is also fairly light. With regards to mesh inner, these seem to be hard to get hold of for most Hilleberg tents! I would contact Hilleberg directly and ask them, I’ve always found them very helpful! The Unna doesn’t have a vestibule and is a deal breaker for some, but if you’ve watched my review on The Unna, you can see there are ways around that! Sorry for the long winded response, I hope this helps! 👍
@frederickridall628
@frederickridall628 Ай бұрын
Nice video Richard. I think the Unna is becoming increasingly popular as more people realise you can easily get around the vestibule issue. The mesh inner is hard to get hold off. I'm not sure Hilleberg would approve of this but the mesh inner of the Soar by Trekkertent will fit the Unna. It's really just a case of adjusting the length of the shock cord attachment loops. It's narrower than the proper inner so it automatically creates a larger vestibule. The corner seams are not seam sealed but you can easily do that yourself. It is if course a helluva lot cheaper than the official Hilleberg inner. Works okay for the summer months m.@@outdoorswithrichard

If you see a tent you like, but a bit heavy, you can always ditch the tent bag, as they tend to be fairly heavy on their own! Also change out the ground pegs, for lighter ones! The total weight saving for those two things on their own can be surprisingly substantial! However also some times knowing the tent your carrying ticks all your boxes and gives you piece of mind, in my opinion is sometimes worth carrying the extra weight! 👍
