Great to you 2 keeping these old Cabovers going. I grew up in these old Cabovers that my Dad had. Overlooking the simple thing in troubleshooting isn't uncommon. Done it myself many times.

Old Harold would be cool to shorten enough to make it into a single axle air ride with a 36 inch bunk. He looks like he has most of his original sheet metal except for the air cleaner hat that goes on the right front ahead of the right windshield.
@CLGarage11 сағат бұрын
Pretty sure he does have all the original sheet metal but as far as the air cleaner hat this truck did not originally have one. I was told that the lower horse power bullnose Kenworth trucks did not have the hat, only the higher horse power trucks had the air cleaner hat. That’s one way you could tell the horsepower

That Pete was an originally a single axle(282) They probably just slid that twin screw frame over it to make it a long chassis for farm use.

This brings back memories, in '76 my first trucking job was driving a '74 White Freightliner with a 290 cummins and a 13 spd. I was fresh out of truck school (all 4 weeks) turned loose on an unsuspecting world. Ran that one about a year and moved up to a new '78 Freightliner ('77 was the last year of White Freightliners) with a formula 290 and a 9 spd. I was running all 48, got tired of being on the east coast to much, quit those guys and started with a new outfit driving a '78 Pete w/ 430 detroit and a overdrive 9 spd, pulling doubles in California. In '81, I bought a new 359 Peterbilt 400 cummins 13 spd and a reefer trailer. Time passes, several more Petes all Cat powered, up to now a 2014 Pete 600 cummins 18 spd. Nostalgic about the old cabovers, but I'll stick with a conventional for the short time I have left out here.

The two tone blue KW sure looks like a Bob to me. Mainly because the frame is bobbed off behind the cab! I'd say Bob's cab should go on a good complete frame. Glad I found your channel. Cool find! As an old truck nut, the first thing I would change is those Mack camel back rear ends. It's got an aluminum frame so a cutoff wouldn't work but a nice Pete air ride would bolt on. Next, I'd get to engineering a way to tilt the cab, since they didn't tilt from the factory. Drop a 6NZ with an 18 speed and sell it. Let the next guy drain his bank account!

@CLGarage20 күн бұрын
You’re telling me, I didn’t add in the hot sun warming up the cab as well. As far as the K100, my original plan was to use it as a parts truck but it would be neat to see a transformation from where it is now to a finished product. But in all reality a parts truck it will probably end up being since I didn’t get a title with that one. Thanks for watching as always!
@neilmcintosh120021 күн бұрын
Another two good looking purchases. The KW has to be given a cut off or even put on the rails that came with it. That excellent cab with distinct paint job and general rust-free condition makes it likely to get very decent money once you get it done. When it comes down to it the Pete has a damaged engine and dubious frame repairs so there is just as much work there. Have you thought about that late 60s White 7400 at James Pretty's? Running order small cam Cummins.
@CLGarage20 күн бұрын
As far as the kenworth I feel like I could go either way. Part it out for other trucks but on the other hand to piece it back together would be fun too, a lot of work but fun. Especially starting with the condition that it’s in now. As for the Peterbilt I’d like to see if we can get it started first to see if it’s worth anything. Yeah I’m towards the kenworth being a parts truck and using the engine for one of our other trucks. Hope to get the cab tilted on the Peterbilt to inspect the rest of the engine, if the engines bad I guess the Cummins will come into play there. Thanks for watching and enjoy your evening as well!
