Cabover Peterbilt "Tina" saved from sitting 20 Years in a gravel pit!!!

Check this out, we get Tina the 1966 Peterbilt cabover in the shop to wash off all 20 years of growth!! The results were very satisfying.

Bought a 68 Pete cabover years ago. Had a 318 Detroit. Had a sleeper. Recessed exhaust. Gentleman didn’t take care of it. I sold it to a guy. Put a new v6 Detroit diesel. Had it for years. Good video. 😊

On top the transmission is the shifter linkage which connects to the shift tower ,below the cab floor

I love these old cabovers. If they could talk. LOL Most these single axle trucks were probably used at LTL companies.

My dad’s was similar, including the recessed exhaust stack, only 1 on the passenger side along with the intake coming through the cab. Wheel base was a little longer, 260”, 3 axle with a stinger that the 5th wheel was mounted on, 24” behind the rear axle.

My first million miles were spent in a cabover freightliner . No power anything, no A/C . At the time I didn’t know how good I had it.

even the day cab had the air intake through the cab .....interesting the 5th will pass DOT .....lol just like today when you mount your 5th wheel with zip ties

Could be, but not sure. I wish there was a better way to do like a carfax for these trucks to better understand where they came from and what they did in the past.

@@CLGarage Go through all the lines, replace them, replace that bad fuel tank. This truck is pretty much a time capsule. Paint the wheels, frame, tanks, etc. I think the front bumper is aluminum so that would be cool if you stripped the paint off and polished it.

That sounds like a great start for sure, the front bumper is aluminum but does have some damage but it’s thick so could be welded and straightened out then striped and polished. We may switch all the lines to plastic, might be cheaper that way since there is so many of them.

@@CLGarage Yes, that bumper could probably be repaired or if worse comes to worse a shop could build a new one or something. I would've suggested painting the truck but with all the body work that would need done and the fact that the paint isn't all that bad of shape I think it's ok. Factory White peterbilt engine also, that would be cool if you got a sandblaster to get that painted up good
