Boy that’s gonna be a screaming Detroit for sure! Sweet looking little truck. Those fenders look a little high on top but that really depends on what kind of trailer they’re using with it. Nice fenders tho. 👍👍

So someone else preset the fender height and we just had to put them on and wire in the lights. They do have tall 24.5 tires on it so they can’t go much lower. They will be pulling the goose neck trailer with this truck so clearance shouldn’t be a problem.

Check Dane Scotts truckers lounge. Similar exhaust set up on a 66 k.w. parts may have come from grand rock in ohio.

Phew, that visor was a trial. If there is a next time would you be tempted to use one made for the right cab? The truck will look super when it is done, although I don't have the same tastes as the customer. I'm not paying so my tastes do not matter.

Yes, instead of buying one off the shelf from a store I would have one custom made so we wouldn’t have to do that again. I will say the truck does get better looking with other add ons.

I would get in touch with Dane Scott. He has a great KZbin channel called Dane Scotts Trucker Lounge, and he just did a 1966 KW Cabover with a 8V71 Detroit with the factory cab mounted exhaust with those style connecters in the elbows and was able to find new ones. Hope this helps, Bill

Maybe you can find a local machine shop, to machine a couple of those ends for you. Then you can weld them onto a couple of new exhaust elbows. Should be pretty simple to fabricate.

That’s a great thought, we did have that idea too at one point, then we just decided to reuse the one we had from another truck but now we will need some for Tina our Peterbilt Cabover. So in the long run we may still need to visit that idea and have a few of them made for future projects!! Thanks

Can you go to a junkyard to find a exhaust pipe

I did contact a few salvage yards but all the trucks that style with the exhaust mounted to the back of the cab were already picked through. I even looked for the brackets that mounted to the cab corners but all the trucks I looked at only had single exhaust. I even contacted some of the name brand exhaust companies and asked directly with no luck. Even talked with freightliner but their records don’t go back that far anymore on some of those items.

That guys going to regret the day he put straight pipes on that V8 Detroit(or do those pipes have baffles in them)? Anyway, great work on you guys part.

No baffles, strait to the moon they are. The good thing is they won’t be going coast to coast with it, just some local places.
