I want to take my glass screen protector off, but I am way too afraid. I have the iPhone 16 Pro Max now I’m just seeing this video again, and I just love the feel of the naked iPhone 16 Pro Max, the way it was designed, I even have a camera protector. I have a screen protector, and I have a back protector on my phone and I go case list sometimes I use a case, but not often anymore. I’ve heard too many stories about people’s back glass being cracked so easily by just flipping their phone over on a table the wrong way or there front glass getting scratched being in their pocket with just lint in their pocket.😂 I mean I’m so careful with my phone but I do not want scratches on my $1,200 phone

My iPhone 15 pro had scratches on it within a few days without even taking it out my house. It seems to scratch incredibly easily so I'd always put a screen protector on an iPhone now.

There's always a few factors to consider. Which computer you are connecting to, which SSD is inside, which type of cable connection (TB3/USB4 or whatever), quality of cable etc.

Oh ok. Are those speeds via a speed test or did you calculate the speed using file transfers? The reason I'm asking is that you should get around 3GB/s transfer via speed test apps. In practice, however, if you have the base Mac mini like me, the internal SSD will greatly reduce your real life speeds. If I remember right, it's around 2GB/s for writing and around 2.4GB/s for reading. I recommend taking a speed test of your Mac mini's internal drive as those speeds will restrict what transfer speeds you get in practice. .

It depends. The glass has got stronger over the years, but it can still scratch and still be crack. Some people don't mind the risk, others prefer to use a screen protector for added protection.

Ah nice Kev! I had a small feeling that you might've gotten the Magic 7 Pro! It's the best price to spec ratio for what you've paid for. Looking forward to your view on it! Definitely get a better case though, I don't get why the sides aren't protected! Even for 6 quid I think the case is meh. There are better cases on aliexpress for cheaper.

You got it right. I had looked at a few pixel 9 pro XL deals, but most involved contracts. Google offered trade in but Xiaomi phones rarely get good prices for that. The case looks good in my opinion, but is completely impractical. Firstly, because it doesn't cover the sides. Secondly, because it's quite slippy. I prefer a case that offers good grip. I may pick a case up from AliExpress later, but with Chinese new year it may not arrive for a few weeks. So may just pick a random cheap case to tide me over. At the moment, the case selection on Amazon is poor. I'm hoping we see better options soon. 👍

@KevinMuldoon I don't think the pixels are worth it anymore. Specs are so so and slow charging. Yeah it's nice to get the latest updates first but stock android is pretty boring. These Chinese phones are more fun with their level of customisations. One thing I wanna ask. How come you don't use gestures on android? It's nice to have that extra screen real estate at the bottom.

I've stuck to the regular navigation menu out of habit. I do need to give gestures a try though. I agree the pixel phones are overpriced. They were a little more attractive when they dropped the price, but they're still not using a top of the range CPU. To be honest it was the cameras that made it attractive. I think you are right. Pixel phones get a lot of things right, but they are kind of boring and do miss out on features such as fast charging.

Hi Kevin..... fair review. I've found the camera app and results pretty good, don't use the selfie much. It's a good camera to really explore the photography art but coming from a pixel it's hard to get away from the fact that there's so much quality of life features in the pixel software that just work. I might have to go back to a 9 pro just for that alone.

Thanks Dave. Appreciate the nice words. I was considering the pixel 9 pro myself a few weeks ago as I saw many good deals for it pop up on HotUKDeals. I pay for Google storage so get many photo editing benefits via the Google photos app. Does the camera app on the Pixel 9 Pro have additional tools that aren't on other camera apps such as from Xiaomi? Apart from the selfie camera, I was very happy with the 14T Pro. I loved the fast charging, good battery life and split screen windows.

@KevinMuldoon the app doesn't offer quite the same granular level of control but the auto works so well most people don't need anything else. Best picture feature is however very useful allowing you to select what you want from a burst shot it takes. I agree the charging leaves the pixel in the dust. Also hi-res zoom is very well implemented on the pixel.

@KevinMuldoon I did get the case and I agree with you. I'm looking for an alternative. I used to use Huawei before the ban, and have held onto my mate 20x since 2019. I have been looking for something to replace the experience. I think this does the job! Yesterday I took my phone off the charge at 3:30 a.m, it finally died at 23: 45 with 8 hours and 47 minutes screen time. The camera seems good but sometimes a bit inconsistent with the colours across the different lenses. I wish I had got the magic pad 2 now in the bundle.

To be honest, these days here in Asia, people are gradually shifting to Chinese or China ROM counterparts of those global phones. The number one reason is the price, which is much lower. Secondly, the chipsets they use are much better and more powerful. Third, they have bigger and latest batteries, and much faster chargers. Some people don't care much about Chinese bloatware or apps, as they can be easily deleted. ❤

£686 with the case. Would have been £680 without. I read some comments from people on HotUKDeals that you could get cashback by going on the app first and then paying on the browser. Think that would have taken another £30 off, but I only learned about that afterwards. Yeah it's a very nice looking phone. Almost looks like an iPhone at certain angles due to the aluminium build etc.

Sorry to hear that. That's not something I experienced. My guess is that there are some apps draining a lot of battery. Check your battery settings area to see which apps are draining a lot of battery. Be aware that a poor signal will drain the battery too. For example, if you have one bar for your signal, your phone has to work a lot harder than if it had a full signal.

Great review! I'm glad you're happy overall with the 14T pro. Funnily enough I also have the annoying voicemail notification every time I restart the phone! In the end I just disabled the notification. Also I agree with you on the charging speeds too. Once you used super fast charging, its very difficult to go back to slow charging again. Can't complaint on the price you paid for this in the end. Fast, good cameras (back), crazy storage and fast charging. All round good phone.

Hey Evo. Hope you're well. It's bizarre that we're seeing that weird notification issue. Perhaps there's a chance they're unaware of it. The price was fantastic. It's one of the reasons I love Xiaomi and why I'll buy another Xiaomi phone in the future. You just can't argue with how much value they're giving you compared to other companies. I may keep my eyes out for a cheap Xiaomi phone as a second phone / backup 👍

Here's how to tackle the Apple storage problem. You buy a PC with an 32 core AMD Ryzen Threadripper workstation CPU, 128GB of DDR5 RAM, and 20TB of SAMSUNG 990 PRO SSD storage. And it will cost you about as much as a Mac studio with 2TB of SSD storage. 🤣

Hahaha. You're about £1,400 to £1,500 for five 4TB Samsung 990 SSDs, but you do have a good point 😁 I'm still using a 5950X in my main PC and it performs great. Haven't stepped up to DDR5 yet, but if I did opt for a new PC instead of a Mac, I'd maybe build an ITX build this time.

Hi Kevin. I have had my 14t Pro for about 6 weeks now and it's been great. I had a S22 Ultra but I really wasn't using all the features of it, this one does everything I need and seems a good bit lighter in the hand. I got the charging stand and a watch with mine for around £600 which I though was excellent. Only thing than annoys me is that there could be more text on the pull down setting menu rather than just the icons that I don't find too intuitive. I haven't come across the voicemail issue at all on EE, might be a hangover from your iPhone visual voicemail settings on your carrier.

Hi Tony. You're 100% correct about the icons. I found myself clicking edit to view what each of the icons were as it wasn't always obvious what it was. That's interesting that you don't have the voicemail issue. I've used that sim card across two iPhones and four or five Android phones and never seen that issue arise. I have found that the newest TB4 fast enclosures like Zike will not perform on high write speeds when connected to TB3 ports. Other TB4 enclosures that use a slower chip like the Acasis will not slow down on write speeds when connected to TB3 ports although about 10% slower than a Zike type on TB4 ports.

Hi John I've read something similar on Reddit. That the older controller has better TB3 support, but is slower on TB4 and USB4 ports. So the newer USB4/TB4 solutions will grab the headlines with those faster speeds, but some people may be better opting for an old enclosure if they still have many TB3 devices.

I am not sure if it's just me and my American English. But, to me when you say a Mac mini clone I would expect it to run macOS and have the same parts as the Mac mini (see the late 90s Macintosh clones) where as you seem to be referring to a Windows PC equivalent. Which you would need to spec with whatever is same on the M4 Mac mini or better.

Hi Sandra. Elgato released a capture card a few years ago called the 4K60S+ which records directly to an SD card without the need for a computer. It was obviously marketed to gamers but could be useful for what you're doing. One issue you have is HDCP. That's the copyright protection that live streams have. You're not going to be able to record live TV unless you navigate that. I encourage you to read a little about that as that's something all modern HDMI devices have. Thanks. Kevin

Yeah I'm always concerned that cheap Chinese computing equipment has malware on it. You can never rule it out. Apple obviously didn't create mini pcs. Other brands offer small mini pcs too. For example, Asus has taken over the NU'C brand from Intel.

@@KevinMuldoon I wouldn't buy a Mac if I wanted. or needed to run Windows or Linux that is what the other brands are for. Why bother with VM or Parallels when you can buy a second hand PC for cheap and run your Windows or Linux on since Linux is famous for bringing life back to older Macs and PCs.

Now this is 2nd time my fold 4 again stopped unfolding fully, just after warranty ended fold starting this issue, i repaired it outside warranty, samsung charged 52k INR to repair, now just after 8 months same issue came back, this is worst phone ever and i started hating samsung from now, to making this shit and fool of us 🤬🤬

I'm sorry to hear that. That's disappointing. That was a big concern of mine when Samsung repaired mine. So rather than keep it, I sold it on.

@KevinMuldoon we both are sitting on the same boat 😅 I was also thinking of buying fold 6. But I controlled my mind and ordered S23 Ultra for now. Bcz I m not happy with samsung. I can't make the wrong decision of buying an iPhone to regret more than this 😆

It's not designed to work with other heatsinks. All of these enclosures work in the same way. In theory, if you kept the top of an enclosure off, you could maybe use your own heatsink. In most situations, I would assume a custom heatsink will not fit because the M2 slot sits inside the shell.
