The AWP is still kinda strong. If you use an AOC monitor, you can use the built in crosshair, and it makes a HUUUUGE difference in having a crosshair in with your sniper

It's stupid because every nerf to the AWP has been useless or had the opposite effect The speed nerf was maybe fair but makes no sense being so excessive considering by that point is actually easier to use since now you can zero your aim by crouching. The magazine capacity is something but barely touches the actual problem with the AWP Which was how when CSGO made the players movement slower and guns more consistent they forgot to account for weapons balanced around faster gameplay And that's what really made the AWP so oppressive But instead of coming with an according balance change they just slapped random bullshit on it hoping it'd just make people hate it like they did in TF2 or really anything VALVE ever does when there's a balance problem. God forbid they have to actually do their job.

With MR 12 less rounds are played, with less rounds played there are a lower amount of AWP's being bought. The decrease makes sense, the comparison to csgo with a MR 16 makes no sense. It shows the higher impact off it when used, when the decrease for the top players is this low. It's a 20% decrease in rounds with a drop off of less then 25% in KPR, with the above it is normal for this to happen.

IMO this is entirely down to mr12 and the state of the economy. force buys have become increasingly effective, and awpers are just simply unable to afford the weapon with these changes

Valve nerfing firerate and accuary to "bring it more in line with other riffles" excuse me valve how is sg553 now slightly better than ak, yes it's bit more accurate and can still kill with 3 shot in stomach, firerate nerf is just too big.
@kabanod1mКүн бұрын
peeker's advantage… but they're playing on LAN…? well, at least finally somebody that noticed that AWP, as a weapon, hasn't been changed since CS:GO. the only thing that changed is that your spread now increases for about 1-2 ticks after taking damage
@MidheimOfficialКүн бұрын
Very nice analysis, i come to the same conclusions. I do think its a little unhealthy for the game that it has gotten so fast. The weaker AWP is an important factor for that. I do not believe the AWP really needs changes (perhaps the magazine size could be increased by 1 or 2 bullets), but the game overall could use some balance adjustments to counteract some of the more 'toxic' sideeffects of MR12. Options are to forego the 1400 loss Bonus completely, but hard resetting an opponent is very rewarding so mabye thats not it. Perhaps increasing the round timer to 2:00 Minutes would have interesting effects, certainly not the direction Valve have taken the game into, but i would really like to see some changes to make the games a little longer again. The game feels more Snowball heavy and i think its mostly because one bad half can be much more devastating than in GO. In bad case szenarios you just have too few Gun Rounds or get the Gun Rounds to late into the half. Being down 4-0 or 5-0 just sucks so much in CS2, where in GO it did not really matter, comparatively. If you go down 5-0 and you forced one to many times the AWP will also play way less of a role for your team, while in MR15 you basically still had the hole half to play and build a 5 rounds lead for 5-10 off of a single gun if you had s1mple in your team. The more i think about it: i would like to see Valve experiment with MR13. Add one more round to play. I think it can make all the difference when it comes to Tempo.

I think the autosnipers had this exact problem in CS:GO- while super effective, it's a very big and risky investment in MR15, which makes players prefer the AWP over them as even that $250 saved goes a long way. With MR12 in CS2, even that has become too big of an investment as there aren't that many rounds to gain money to full buy with AWPs and util. The AUG and SG 553 also had a similar issue with the extra investment for nearly insignificant benefits over the M4s and AK, respectively, with that extra $200 price tag, before their price reductions in 2018, but then again, people weren't really abusing SMGs as much as people do now to gain more money with higher kill rewards to buy the scoped rifles. If the AUG and SG didn't get the nerfs they got in 2019 and MP9 and MAC-10 usage increased the way it did, they'd be decently good gambles for both teams for specific niches they excel at.

I think a lot of the AWPers who have been successful are those who can play close range in CSGO, but then it's harder to hold angles, why I think a lot of the top AWPers miss a lot of easy shots, in CSGO it was easier to hold long angles and people were more successful at that
@n3bu1aКүн бұрын
Yeah. M0nesy has been one of the AWPers leading the way in terms of leading the way in CS2. As more AWPers adjust their style to fit what the game has begun, its impact will slowly increase.
