May i know which scale under Phrygian mode ?
@marksmanmusicacademy
@marksmanmusicacademy 4 ай бұрын
The phrygian mode is a type of scale, it's the same as the natural minor, just flatten (lower) the second note of the scale by one semitone and you've got the phrygian mode

Ive been learning music making on a synth and a sampler. Would the course benefit the likes of me trying to be DAWless until the recording part? I am intrigued, for £4, but have thought "what's the catch" when there are so many videos out there😬

Sure, it will definitely help with arrangement and the mixing side of things in the post-recording phase. There’s no catch at all. Here’s the link site.theofficialmarksman.com/3-course-offer

People missing the point that this is for people who have no idea how to mix at all. I do mix everything by ears by experience now but most of the time it does fall within the hierarchy and scales presented in this video : Kick > Bass / Other Drums > Leads / Vocals > Rythmic elements (arps, chords...) > Mood Indeed in the end everything is done with your ears, but when you're a beginner it's alright to find tools and methods to get you on the right track so that you get progress on your songs, even if it means unlearning bad habits later on. I doubt saying it the way I just wrote would fit this format nor be more "KZbin algorithm friendly" and I guess that's why it's not that way in the first place. Anyways, still nice content for very beginners, and glad to see you around Marksman !

Some great tips again and confirmation for me where I’ve been going wrong and where I need to re-focus. Music Theory is defo on the agenda, I need to invest in myself that way. Spot on around the 9:30 mark also, the busy job/long day and finding the energy to stay on top whilst juggling family life. Always tricky finding that balance without upsetting anyone lol. Hi, sorry, perhaps you have already done a video on this, but I would like to learn about the needed hardware, like for example what keyboard to buy and how to connect to a pc, perhaps it's lame, idk :DD I heard something about MIDI cabels but I'm not sure. Thanks
@marksmanmusicacademy
@marksmanmusicacademy Жыл бұрын
Great suggestion, to be honest all you’ve gotta do is plug it in to your computer and these days everything will sync automatically and you’re good to go. I’d recommend anything by Novation, that all is fully compatible with Ableton. The arturia keylab is also great 👌 Generally speaking, it’s not what you have but how you use it. A midi keyboard is definitely useful, although be wary of G.A.S (gear acquisition syndrome)

Amazing tips.... shame that here is no image clarity to see the plugins in detail at the bottom of the screen in the device chain, needs recording in higher resolution ? 1080 is the maximum I could ramp up my tablet on youtube to try to see this, very blurry details, makes me holding back in purchasing any material/courses at this image quality, sorry.

Hi mate, thanks for flagging this. For this upload I had an error with the output and was recording on my larger resolution monitor so the downscaling caused issues. All future videos have been fixed. All the course material is in HQ so there aren't any problems - I've checked on all platforms. More good stuff dropping soon :)

It is ok that everything is noticeable, and maybe on EDM that’s likeable, be it style or better translation between playback systems. But from personal experience and various sources, I’ve learned that a great mix has different levels, or layers, where the instruments sit. I agree that main driving components, like the kick, snare, bass or voice should be easy to distinguish, but it is more powerful when also you have something to compare them to. To have something “up front” implies you need something “in the back”. I’d add that once you have your mix balanced against the pink noise, you could experiment by turning down some elements that don’t need that much protagonism, or that could distract you from the main instrument that you want to highlight on certain part of your song.
@marksmanmusicacademy
@marksmanmusicacademy Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, it’s important to have depth. Although this is mostly achieved from using spatial effects like delays and reverbs.
@Mafa3l
@Mafa3l Жыл бұрын
@@marksmanmusicacademy sure, delay and verb can sure give you a similar feeling, if depth is what you are looking for. But definitely a mix with nuances in the balance has certain feel that is more related to the dynamics than depth. Also in terms of arrangement, having something barely distinguishable will make you question what it is and focus on it. Like subtle ear candy.
