I’m on a quest to get back to reading. I’m not too fond of fiction but struggle through some of the pain of non-fiction (just knowing that the events really happened)… historical fiction seems more my speed. Thanks for the recommendations! I remember reading “The American Girl- Addy” series… the black American runaway slave girl. ❤❤❤❤ I miss those days of reading.

I really enjoyed The God of the Woods! I pulled your name first for my TBRathon bingo. 🥳 I was going to use Outlander as my pick as I’m almost done with it; however… I’m going to use your tbr as inspiration and read the Personal Librarian because it’s been on my tbr all year. 🕺🕺🕺 Happy reading!

I enjoyed the presentations of your list of books. However, I was wondering, do you have any (I don't know) book recommendations with a male presence. I listen to these reviews often by different personalities, but they all APPEAR to be female oriented. Getting to be a bit discouraging.
@gabbylikestoread18 күн бұрын
The Last Green Valley is written by a man and has a male POV. Also, the Last Rose in Shanghai has a male POV as well. I’ve read two male authored YA romances that were great. (Charming as a Verb and the Opposite of Always). I’ll reading and reviewing more male authors in 2025!

you got some bricks on your list this month!☺️ Someone just mentioned they think I will enjoy Vanessa Riley’s books and I have them! I need to push one of them to the top. I need a short Christmas romance right about now. Can’t wait to get into You Make It Feel Like Christmas 🎄 🤗 The Search of a Prince is such a beautiful cover! 😍 If I like the Christmas book i’ll definitely have to check that one out.

I would say Sister Mother Warrior is her best HF work. She writes historical romances and mysteries too!

I'm wating on my library hold for What the River Knows. It sounds so good! Caste is amazing - I actually liked it better than Warmth of Other Suns because I geek out with all the social science, data, research, etc.

Caste was great! It should be mandatory reading for school. I felt like it was a quick read because the subject matter was so engaging. I love Vanessa Riley's books. I read Sister Mother Warrior & loved all the Haitian history. I finished Island Queen recently. It was good.

Sounds like a strong bunch of books for the summer. I've read a few of Edwidge Danticat's books, but not Farming of Bones. You've also convinced me to put Next Year in Havana on my tbr. The best book I read for the summer was likely Savage Season by Joe R. Lansdale.
