Is it possible to put the cummins 4bt engine in a Dodge promaster?

I understand this is an older video, you all offer a 140hp 4BT currently (June 2024). What would that 140hp motor need to get the 170hp that the dyno shop out of this one? And this would be fine in a E4OD powered truck correct?

I’m surprised Dodge didn’t put these engines into their 1500 trucks in 1994 with the body change, especially after seeing the success of the 5.9 Cummins in their 3/4 and 1 ton trucks.

I would imagine the rear end was replaced almost double the Torque from stock. Put a trailer behind it might grenade the rear.

You need to make a Dodge M37 swap kit, people do want 4BTs in them and there is not support. I'm doing it now.

Have you guys ever gotten the chance to mess around with a 4.5L Cummins? There are guys swapping them into offroad rigs that seem to have gotten some decent power out of them. They could be a better swap candidate in some of the bigger GM trucks because it frees up more room for a good fan/shoud so that you can actually tow with it. A 6BT in a bigger chevy truck doesn't leave much room for a cooling fan in the A-arm/TBI/6.5 trucks. If you guys were able to get a hold of a truck that has one in it, that might show off it's potential as a viable swap for guys needing something with the power of a mild 6BT with the room/packaging of a 4BT.

Why all this trouble, just buy a dodge?

Wowza..... if one is going to go to this extent..... spend the $$$ for the P pump swap and just get it over with for cryin out loud

I was wondering about the differences between the Dodge version and Industrial version of the Cummins 5.9

If I hit the lotto I would buy a 79 series with the 4.5 biturbo (pretty sure you would have to add the turbos) with lockers but i want to use it on the road the majority of the time, but it's just amazingly capable, reliable vehicle! This is a vehicle that would last you for the rest of your life if you took care of it.

Lets not forget about suspension upgrades for a extra 300lbs of engine wieght

I use my 99 durango as a family hauler /work truck with a trailer currently starting this swap just for the added torque but going supercharged for the wide band plus i do some light offroading so will actualy keep up with the long travel compared to the 5.9
