I put inline single hooks on my rapala 20' and 30' raps. Makes unhooking a lot easier and safer. If I'm into a lot of fish I crush the barbs.

Windy this morning, so mad at my self making a noob mistake. I hooked into a 30+” Blue (wasn’t expecting it thought it was a big striper) got it to the side of the boat and he bite the line. The noob mistake was not having my net out !!!! Ughhhhh!!!

Blues are some of the best fish to eat. You gotta bleed it when caught, they're best pan-fried and only good if fresh caught. Fillet is a waste, cook it whole.

I went out on a charter on Saturday and couldn't believe how crazy packed the spots were in the harbor. We ended up catching 21 stripers and 1 blue fish while losing 4 fish at the boat. but we got 4 keepers too so great day on the water. We are so happy we didnt have to manage the crowds

On all of my combos I use 50 lb braid to a barrel swivel, then 30lb mono leader to a clip. That way if I want to troll or fish lures I can and it is simple to take off and attach a premade leader/hook combo for live lining

It is a expensive fish that needs to move to live so I am assuming the hook is causing it to bleed but it is not the blade and that blade you talked about is called a propeller 😄👍

@@BETSYKBARNES It is neither a shark nor is it being cut up by the propeller. The Tuna was likely harpooned and gaffed in order to land and kill the fish. It is being dragged to bleed and ethically kill the fish.

Gator blues and big bass inside the harbor yesterday. Trolled pogies for bass then once I saw a pogie bit in half changed to CD18 orange and gator blues then caught!

Where do you keep your boat or launch out of? I live in Medford and sadly only fish the Mystic a few times a year, never really make it to the harbor unless I get a charter. I get most of my fishing in up in Maine for two weeks every July.

I'm slipped over by the Tobin. i picked up a 20 & 30 X Rap. what speed are you typically trolling at 3-5mph? also how many seconds are you letting your line out. thanks for any help in advanced. my first year in Boston ( been in Gloucester for years ) so its been tough to learn a new area.

@@m.a.t2008 Glad you enjoyed! You nailed it, i troll at 3-5mph, and typically let out like 50-75 yards of line. My goal is to get it as far from the prop wash as possible. I would try and go to Boston Light early in the morning and troll around, I always have luck there. I can make a video that lays out exactly how I do everything trolling related. Hope to see you out there and tight lines!

absolutely! a lot of luck goes into it so next time I stumble upon some pogies I will start recording. It’s pretty simple when you do find them, get a snagging hook, throw it into the middle of the school, and keep yanking the rod/line hard until you hit one
