Great review. The earpads are removable, and there is actually a youtube video showing how to remove them. When listening with the 3.5mm cable, you can either completely shut off the Apollo or leave them on and utilize the ANC and DSP. When powered off, they are completely passive, meaning that there is no DSP coming from the Apollo, and therefore the 7db boost you mentioned (and any EQ settings) would not be a factor.
@Skeeb233 күн бұрын
@@JimMoulton-y1q thank you. I was aware of the passive mode with EQ, and absolutely should have addressed it. For the pads, interesting. If it was my unit I would have dug in further. Still, I feel it's something that noble should provide instructions for if they are said to be replaceable. It's still a great headphone, quirks aside.

Good, solid, balanced review. I bought these because of the battery life and them proving to be a good all-arounder in all applications. My pet peeve with the case is, why just the tray? Why not a compartment with a flip up magnetized lid? That would’ve been a better design choice. A little secret is that entire piece smoothly slides up to reveal enough space underneath the tray portion to store that pouch and the manual. A much better place to store them and lessen the risk of losing them! I find that I prefer them with ANC off and with the Pop preset. The Pop preset seems to boost the bass and bring down the treble just a touch. I love the air in the treble without it getting edgy and the image separation. I do agree about the comfort. It’s not bad but I do find myself doing a quick readjustment every 30 minutes or so. Overall, I would say that they’re probably not the best in any one category but do everything well. When you add their fairly neutral sound signature into the mix, I think that they serve all genres of music well.

Awesome video for those considering their higher end options. As someone who's used all three and still hangs onto the Arya Stealth and the Auteur Classic, I agree with a lot of what you said. The HD800s really didn't do much for me but I do enjoy its hipster brother the ADX5000. Something about the Aryas really do make it the most complete package

Best...well it was the Enleum 23RM. The Mojo 2 was really good as well. The Midgard did alright, but you may like the new Schiit Gunnr with them. It should have plenty enough juice to drive them. Depends on how much you want to spend. The Enleum is $3k.

My mistake, you are referring to the desktop amp. I've not heard it to compare to the Enleum unfortunately, but, you did get the Dac built in. For that money, there are going to be so many options. Id just do some research and you'll come up with something.

Hi Skeeb. I tried to like them because I LOVE Koss. I always wonder why people including audiophiles feel like they have to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars when you can just get the KSC75s or KPH40s for basically free and call it a day. My point. After using these wireless which were sounding muffled, I immediately threw on my KSC75s. It is night and day. What a difference. The KSC75s are sooo good. And again, they cost nothing. As much as I hate to do it, I have to return these wireless portas. My apologies to Koss. The company is still awesome.

Great review, as always! I own the Dan Clark E3 headphones with the CMA 18, and I would like to know if in terms of sound quality, if the Ibasso Taipan gives a better sound than the Questyle CMA 18? I'm not talking about power. In short, is the upgrade worth it? Because the CMA 18 makes a very good match with the E3.

Hi mate, great video! Just a small correction, the optical port is not restricted to 24/96khz it does go up to at least 24/192khz. Furthermore it’s a great performing optical port, and because it doesn’t transmit electrical noise it sounds far better than usbc. If you pair it with a mini DDC like SMSL PO100PRO (under $50) you can convert any USB or lighting signal into optical (make sure it supports 192khz not all do). The sound is clearer with extremely low noise floor. Mojo2 sounds great fed optically from CDTs and Streamers as well. All the best!

@Skeeb2310 күн бұрын
@@rstar88105 You could always check out Sundara or Edition XS. Both can get bright if you're sensitive to it. Even though it's marketed as "gaming" the new Beyerdynamic MMX 330 Pro is really good for sound too. Just had a mic attached. That price range is a bit tough for sound stage. There's always Sennheiser stuff, but they aren't known to be as big on staging.

My unit seems to have an audible noise floor or at least that’s what I think it is. Is this normal for tube amps? Reached out to Woo and they said it’s normal and should be unobtrusive when audio is playing. P.s I’m using the Atrium open, Empyrean II & Arya Organic.

I’m thinking of this headphone as I’ve heard it’s amazing for mixing and mastering because of how revealing fast punchy and dynamic they are with the transients. Which planar headphones have all this but smoother highs? The Arya stealth is only $200 more or I could stretch to the organic (but that costs more than double) if either of these has though has those same nano characteristics but smother treble. I would also EQ the nano to harman if that helps. I make and listen to 90%+ house and techno. I don’t want it to be too harsh in the highs though. I have the DT880 and feel like they sound too metallic and harsh and also lack bass and perhaps the soundstage is too big and open (empty). Very bright and tinny which makes me feel a bit of that tinnitus feeling. It can be amazing for other genres though.
@Skeeb2317 күн бұрын
That's the problem with so many Planars is that they naturally can be too fatiguing in the highs. Most Hifiman headphones suffer from this, except for this new generation of Unveiled. I would imagine that the new Arya Unveiled will be smoother in the highs, but since I haven't heard it, I can't recommend that. You may want to check out some of the Audeze headphones and do some research there. It all depends on your budget...but I can't honestly think of a Planar right now under 1k that isn't a bit stabby (that I've heard).
