I have a hard time understanding that anyone would want better headphones than the 800s, especially after using them with proper equipment, for me they are the end of the game.

How are these for trance, rock/metal, pop, electronica, classical ect... ? I listen to a wide range of genres. I like detailed, wide, punchy and a little warm sound. It must be enganging and musical. Not Fatigue. And of course comfortable. The most comfort iems ive had, is the beyerdynamic xelento. A good iem. But to pricey. 😊

This could be a collector item for me since I'm more of a hybrid config enjoyer and happy owner of Myer a SL-41 (they perform better in busy tracks). In term of looks and fit the Alba is right in my alley and being a single DD it makes them very unique. I applaud the care that went into this review with the beautiful photography and will suggest it to my contacts.

What about the tips? Recommendation please

I feel like the midrange dip might just be common to Yamaha's traditional ortho headphone tuning. I have a vintage pair of HP-2 orthos and they have a fairly severe dip between 2-4khz, but the Yamaha CR-1020 receiver I use them with has a presence control that revolves around 3khz so it's incredibly easy to boost vocal presence without affecting much else. Their gear really seems to do well with their own receivers/amps, at least from my vintage Yamaha experience.

The old AKG K812 after 100 hours are the true stage kings i had the 800s and there are good witch but miss the middle

Thanks for the review you two. This will most likely be my first IEM. I have mostly used headphones and speakers for games and music. I am highly interested in these IEMs.

The headphone/IEM hobby is a funny one. Have sets more than 10x the price point of the Alba, and yet I was giddy when ordering my pair this morning. Much like the 99 Classics and 109 Pros, these seem to be punching above their weight. Excited to get mine in hand.

I was thinking about buying this as my plunge into the iem market, and the fact that they provide a usb-c dongle really seals the deal for me as I don’t really want to buy one myself

Are these a waste if I just use apples Bluetooth codec and not AptX? I have Hifiman edition XS with a day amp combo and I daily drive Sennheiser Momentum 4’s. Bluetooth from my iPhone to the M4s is surprisingly saucy. Wondering what it will be like with the Dali’s.

I find that quality DAPs fits my lifestyle. When I’m lounging in bed, sitting on the deck or when on vacation I want my music. I literally have hundreds of full albums loaded on my device. A dongle DAC ain’t gonna cut it for me.

So in a nutshell: I bought Focal Bathys Dune a couple of weeks back and I've been real impressed with the sound quality and the clarity of it. I thought I'd give Dali iO 12 a shot, you know, just to compare the two and I just decided to send both back. Focal Bathys' sound clarity is way superior. Dali just sounds soft and muffled to me. They're both going back and I'm ordering Focal Bathys again, this time the black version. Bathys: 1. Dali 12: 0

Recently, I tried the Liric 2 at a hifi store and definitely enjoyed it. My big issue was how prominent that spike in high treble was, making stuff like cymbals stick out to an unnatural degree. I would consider a pair but I would need to hear them again - and get a chance to test the E3 (on portable gear, namely the Onix XI1 and the Chord Mojo 2) before committing.

Great livestream. I’d love to see a long form video of the gear that you currently own and reasoning behind keeping it vs the stuff you’ve reviewed and passed on. WaveTheory has a great series like that and it really helps form an opinion for the viewers of your channel if we’re indexing for the same sound and purposes as you are.

i had the 800s for gaming and they miss out front staging its all left right and wide no centre no vertical , i traded in the akgk812 there were superior for gaming but not music

I was considering this one but went with an Onix XI1. It will only be available in a few weeks but if it was not already on your radar, it might warrant a look. I saw a reviewer flat out say that he preferred it to the DC Elite.

Nice review and love the channel…only problem With dc elite is the 450-500 price tag … you’re getting up there in price… I love and own the RU7 …. But you get up in that 500 dollar range the Ifi gryphon although much bigger is just so good for my tastes …. Able to drive all my zmfs to sound great and all iems…just has every option imaginable … I also hate using apps to control Options on dongles I’m more of a Plug n play person and give me a screen too! I don’t like the lack of screen with dc elite

I find the Crossfeed function to work awesome on the Hifiman Headphones that have more left and right width than froward depth. If the headphone has a lot of width, the crossfeed just pushes that width forward to make it sound like a huge soundstage in front of you on some songs. However, the feature can affect the bass response on some songs and make it more bloated or impactful depending on the song of course.
