I couldn't find the source for the quote you gave of Joseph Smith's last sermon. I looked here: 1) the King Follett Discourse found in History of the Church vol 6-chapter 14 p 302-317 "Joseph Smith's last sermon/discourse" 2) History of the Church vol 6-chapter 24 p 498-500 "Joseph Smith's last public address" So what is the source for the quote you give at min 4: 27? "I believe all that God has revealed and I never hear of a man being damned for believing too much. But they are damned for unbelief." Please share your source with us. Thank you~ :)

I thought this was really beautiful. It got me thinking: What if the real work for our ancestors needed, and ways we are Savior’s on Mt Zion is an extension of the Savior’s work to sit with these individuals in their pain, help them complete their human experience by working through their traumas, confusions and life situations? Because if what we give them in the temple is just a checklist that's checked off, that doesn't help them anymore than it helps us.

You said it …I’m in the thick of this very kind of “work for the dead” right now, and that is the very impression I have been given…helping me to endure, knowing there is a higher purpose in being with the pain/darkness/discomfort, etc.

I would love to give my own insights that have been given to me through the Holy Spirit. I have been given the gift of discernment and I am grateful for it. I would love to join other sisters in the faith who have received meat to share with others. Thank you for sharing yours! I agree with you! I have discovered truth in so many ways and places and have discerned it. It's so wonderful to see how people have the truth but there is so much more that they are missing. Even we can be limited. I agree with the Prophet Joseph Smith. He is a man of valor and honor and integrity.

Being a seeker of truth wherever it is found has required me to trust in my ability to hear the Lord. This ability has been a process. The reality is, when I started on this path I was terrified of being deceived and would reject anyone or anything that challenged what I understood to be "true". As I have sincerely prayed to discern between truth and error I have been led to read and or listen to information that has given me confirmation , clarification and peace. One of the podcasts I was led to listen to is Megan's two part interview with Steve Reed...stages of faith. Bottom line, everyone must have a strong enough relationship with the Lord to trust that the Lord will not allow us to be deceived.

I am a truth seeker. I find truth nuggets in many places that feel right. One day in SS, the question was asked, “How do you know what to do in these times?” or something like this. One sister’s answer was “follow the prophet”. In that moment I wanted to flag the play and say there’s more….”follow Jesus Christ, that’s where you will find your answers”. Otherwise we follow false tradition.

If the Pickering’s have left the church I am not going to judge them but it does amaze me if true how a couple with such a deep understanding of the scriptures and how the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints plays such a vital role in the unfolding of the plan of Salvation would check out. If not The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which other church fits ? I don’t see another church that fits into the plan and if the Pickering’s did leave it goes to show anyone regardless of knowledge can fall. Look at Martin Harris, David Whitmer and other early leaders. They had a front row seat yet fell.

I think an interesting idea for your podcast would be to discuss how this pertains to serving in the church, not just spousal and family relationships. Are there answers to be found to create more understanding and harmony serving in Gods church between men and women? What does feminine and masculine look like in leadership in the church? How do we complement eachother? I would love to hear your thoughts !

I still don't understand how Jesus has a step brother who is older if Mary wasn't married yet. Am I missing something or didn't understand it right?
@lddisciplespodcast17 күн бұрын
Hello! Yes, so his step brothers would have been Joseph’s children. The nativity in the infancy gospel of James describes Joseph as a much older man who was a widower and was divinely charged to be a caretaker for Mary. So he had children from a previous marriage that then became siblings to Jesus. Hope that makes sense!

The "Lamb" in the book of Revelation is not Jesus..... the Lamb in Revelation is the coming "son of man" who is David . Jesus is the One on the throne in Revelation and the "Lamb" is His "Messiah" ( Rev. 11:15 ) The scene in Revelation is the same as depicted in Daniel chapter 7 . Jesus is the "Ancient of Days" on the throne in Daniel 7 and the "one like a son of man" is the same "one like a son of man" that John sees in Revelation 1:13 . Jesus Himself tells us that this coming one is David in Revelation 22:16 . David is the "Bright Morning Star" as Jesus says in Rev. 22:16......there is no second word "and" in that verse . In 2 Samuel chapter 23 , David himself confirms this Title that the Lord Jesus, the "Rock of Israel" bestowed on him. Jesus is the "offspring" (seed) of David, and Jesus will be his "root" (source) when David comes . The "Lamb" is also the "two witnesses" in chapter 11 who is slain . This is why John sees " a lamb as if it had been slain" in the beginning in Rev. 5:6 . The Lamb is one person who will have Jesus "IN" him.......Jesus is now the "Spirit of Truth" ( John chapter 14 ). Jesus said in John chapter 16 :12-15 that He is coming again as the "Spirit of Truth" who will be "IN" another person . This one person will be the "two witnesses" or "two anointed ones".......Jesus and David . He is "the one who conquers" that Jesus writes His new name on that only that one person knows. ( Rev. 2:17and 3:12 ) After his death and resurrection at the "last trump" in chapter 11, then we see this person coming in power and judgment in Rev. 19:12 . "and he had a name written on him that no man knows but he himself " "And his name ( his Authority ) is CALLED " the Word of God".........because his Authority IS THE "WORD" of God (Jesus) who is "IN" him . The coming son of man who is the Lamb and also the two witnesses will be a vessel for the Lord Jesus, just as the man Jesus was a vessel for the Word of the Father . ( John 1:1-14 )

This content is an attempt to bring back witchcraft with an LDS accent. The content encourages demonology delivered in the subtle manner of the Temptation of Eve. See, Genesis 3, and 2 Timothy 3 - Imagine one tends a feminist tree in their child bearing years only to discover that tree bears bad fruit. Matthew 7. Time is a precious gift. - Follow The Plan of Happiness through divinely appointed sources. It's tried and true. Even when stumbled through, it bears good fruit. Summary: Witches were actually good, and they were burned/drowned for a land grab... in Salem 1692-1693? - Satan deceives by telling partial truths, and tends to the listeners sinful nature of the carnal mind. All the while planting seeds in the listeners mind. With hopes one will never put 2 and 2 together. - It wasn't until the Married Women's Property Act 1848 (1870 in England) that married-women could own land, and that was only in New York for Americans. - Malleus Maleficarum was written by disgraced clergyman and condemned by the Inquisition & the Catholic Church. This interview suggest the opposite. European blood has emotionally damaged epigenetics. - Proven by the new scientific experts we can all trust ~sarcasm. - Look, we all experience the same sins as our neighbors, and we all have free will. Governmental, environmental, and cultural permissiveness changes the extent at which one can indulge, but the sin remains the same. - We have free will, and are expected to fulfill our earthly obligations. See, "know thyself control thyself give thyself" by President Paul H Dunn, April 1972 General Conference - Credentials, and credentialing are sprinkled throughout this interview to lend credibility to otherwise inaccurate content. I don't know the motivations here, but just be careful what your let into your mind. Your attention (worship) feeds either the natural man or the divinity within you. Edify the Spirit, and avoid affirming the Carnal Mind.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to discuss these ideas 💡 💡 I’m currently reading Consider Yourself as Eve - it’s just wonderful and I deeply and desperately want to move into the feminine more - this topic has been so so hidden especially in my own personal life I can see how me being too masculine which I have ALOT - it’s hurt my marriage and family but now I can repent and become in this area through my Savior. Off topic but I’m in a space where I am troubled by the church in many ways, but am also so grateful for it as well I think in the end it’s you and God . The church like many things can get in the way at times and seasons right now I needed to step back. I feel very judged and misunderstood on many fronts, not that anyone is trying to hurt me it’s just how the cookie is crumbling - even Emma Smith and her descendants weren’t “ LDS” after Joseph and his brothers were murdered. Right now I’m at a point where I think there are great truths and light in the church but I don’t see how we are the only way to the “restored church” besides of course that God blesses all who sincerely seek him in any space or place so we have received light and and grace as a community- any insights are welcomed thanks girls❤❤❤

I guess one thing that bothers me about Eve not receiving the same commandment as Adam to partake of the fruit is that there are *many* commandments (perhaps all of them!) that are given that our children inherit that weren’t given to them directly. What is to indicate that this is just for Adam?
@lddisciplespodcast27 күн бұрын
I see your point. I don’t know! I could be wrong. I do think there’s a difference though between inheriting a commandment from a parent (children are designed to be dependent on parents) vs a wife having to obey her husband’s commandment. That seems more like a co-dependent relationship which isn’t healthy. But that’s just one possibility.

Loving this! Moses 6:61 "therefore it is given to abide in you; the record of Heaven; the Comforter; the peaceable things of immortal glory; the truth of all things" I think this is offered to all, but it might be through women and the higher order that the men received it? I don't know. But that would mirror the Gospel of Mary Magdalene where the apostles are looking to her for teaching and she connects with Yeshua in the nous, the inner secret place "there where is the nous, lies the treasure."

It's later on, and nobody will probably see this comment. But I've been reading this book and there's lots of good stuff there. I was excited about it at first. I even bought a copy for a family member. But the more I read, the more red flags went up. The entire mystery of the author not wanting fame and writing under a pen name (I have a good idea who he is), or that there are many other contributors that will remain nameless to protect them? The constant pushing of the idea that under the doctrine of the Second Comforter we should have personal, in this life, visitation from the Lord himself, or at least visitors from the other side to have our calling and election made sue or we have somehow failed? It reminds me of excommunicated podcaster Mike Stroud, who pushed the same notion. Or the fraud of John Pontius's Visions of Glory and his mysterious Spencer. In fact, this book mentions Pontius (RIP) like he spoke nothing but the truth. I still remember watching in horror a video fireside with a group of LDS sisters reviewing Visions of Glory as if it should be canonized. I'm just saying, be careful studying this book. There are beautiful pictures and comments, but definitely proceed with caution, asking for discernment from the Holy Ghost. Have faith in Jesus, repent, keep his commandments, endure to the end. Do your best to keep on the covenant path, repent, repent, repent. Do that and I think it will end well for you.
