Love your channel and Todds gifts in teaching. This discussion has principles outlined in the book “ Anatomy of Peace.”

I always learn from Todd’s insights and especially appreciate his humility and genuine desire for truth. So much meat to chew on in this (and every!) episode. One more thought on this impossible but beautifully necessary concept of avoiding deception: Joseph Smith’s inspired translation of Matthew 1:37 contains a precious teaching from Jesus that has brought me great comfort as I’ve sought to overcome my fear of deception: “And whoso treasureth up my word, shall not be deceived…” I love what I am learning about Christ and my feminine partnership with Him through your book, Meghan!

1:10:08 It’s so confusing to hear on one hand, that we can’t do anything to earn salvation or exaltation… And on the other hand offer up a list of things you must do, let go of and submit to in order to receive these blessings. Do you see how contradictory that is?
@stevereedatxАй бұрын
Some things are contradictions, others are paradoxes. Language is another obstacle. Technically you could say that one “earns” salvation but that depends on what you mean by earn. We don’t earn it in that salvation is solely a fruit of our own efforts alone. But in another sense we earn (which “earn” isn’t a good word here) salvation by our desires, faith, and willingness to surrender to God and stop warring against him. It’s perhaps more accurate to say that we reconcile ourselves to God and receive our salvation from him.

Maybe qualify is the word?
@stevereedatxАй бұрын
@@debbiewhite1615 That sounds similar to earn but I think they both can work depending on the context. Do we qualify on our own merits or does repentance and a broken heart qualify us. I think most people would say the latter.

Not sure I understand the link between baptism and deception prevention.
@lddisciplespodcastАй бұрын
The discussion is based on the full ordinance of baptism, which includes a baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost. That event is what really helps to orient us towards truth and prepares us to discern. You can learn more in my book “Consider Yourself as Eve”!
