Hey! I'm thinking of buying this just to make vertical videos for social media while I draw in the street. Do you think that would work? Im wondering if the vertical position of the phone won't let me see my sketchbook while drawing... what do you think?

You can have some control . I think in pocket 3 you take the iso to lowest setting and then in auto mode set the interval to 30 seond and you will allow slow shutter speed . Hope they release it as firmware to address the 1 second limitation

Incredibly useful to see the comparison footage. I was wondering how well it would work with the wide angle. I'll be getting one because it's still quite useful for the glare on foliage.

I'm only able to choose 2-seconds as my shortest intervals in timelapse mode. How do you get the 0.5-second and 1-second options?
@captureguide
@captureguide Күн бұрын
If you select Video+RAW you can only select a 2s minimum interval. If you only save the video or Video+JPEG, you can select 0.5s and 1s intervals. I talk about it a bit around 7:48 😊

4:20 Please, what ND filters did you use? Nd8, Nd16 or Nd32? If you could tell the brand as well --thank you again

Hey, these are Freewell ND filters that I linked in the description. In that specific scenario I was using the ND64 filter.

Fantastic video, so much great information. Curious, is either camera able to capture time-lapse in vertical orientations?
@captureguide
@captureguide Күн бұрын
Yes, you can take vertical timelapses on both cameras. On the Osmo Pocket 3 you select vertical mode (either by rotating the screen or manually selecting it from the menu) and on the Osmo Action 5 Pro you just rotate the camera 90 degrees and the videos will be vertical. Actually that brings me to another interesting difference I didn't think about which is that the OA5 Pro will take higher res vertical timelapses. That's because you physically reorient the lens so it won't do any extra cropping. With the OP3, since switching to vertical does not physically reorient the lens on its side, you end up with a max 2.7K vertical video. However the image quality is still very good, and more than enough for social media uploads.

Having no bobbing of the body when walking is scientifically proven as being attractive, so practicing to walk is good for your gimbal work and for your attractiveness. You can watch videos of runway models, their backpack strap gimbal image would float

Another great video! It’s great how your videos are comparisons but also kind of tutorials and BTS. I’ve recently decided to get an Osmo Action 5 Pro + charging handle over the Pocket 3, not just because of the ~50 USD price difference, because I realized how often I drop my phone 😅 This video makes me feel better about my decision. For any US viewers, Costco has a really great 500 USD bundle for the Pocket 3: The standard camera set + battery grip/handle + mini tripod + 64 GB microSD. The P3 on Amazon US is 519 USD alone. So that’s ~100 USD in savings. For the Action 5 Pro, Amazon US has the basic camera package for 350 USD and the charging handle for 97 USD.

Yeah, both are great cameras but the Osmo Action definitely makes sense if you have a habit of dropping things! Thanks for sharing the offers!

I've got a Pocket 3, it's great! I also use a Hero 9, that does reasonable time lapses, but the Action 5 looks much better so am hoping to upgrade at some point. Thanks for a great video 🙂

@captureguide

Hey! RAWs are 9.02MP (4000x2256) for 16:9 aspect ratio. Since the November 2024 firmware update you can also take 4:3 aspect ratio timelapses which will produce 9.98MP (3648x2736) RAWs. Thanks for watching.

It's an improvement but still suffers IMO. I think running a higher shutter speed is better so 4x the frame rate.

Good video, I just made a video for the Action 5 Pro and FPV. It funny how the old Action 2 doesn't suffer this issue nor does O3/O4 Air Unit. I think DJI need a firmware update. Personally I prefer to use Rock Steady and use a fast shutter like 4x the frame rate. This has given me best resuts.

thank you.. very good comparison.. I've been looking for solution to replace action cams with ND filters on FPV freestyle drones and as now O4 Pro came out.. the quality is superb, but you don't want to fly with 60fps and ND filters on.. so you still want to stay at 100fps.. adding motion blur in Davinci Resolve post for Freestyle might be a solution for that, I really hope AI would step in with some help here in the future.

I want to buy this camera as well but i am wondering if you will make a video on how the footage looks with a higher shutter speed (50fps and 1/100 or 60fps and 1/120) before i buy this camera. i want to know if that will fix the jitters because all of these biased sponsored youtubers obviously dont discuss the bad things. Greetings and thanks in advance!
@captureguide
@captureguide Күн бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the suggestion, I may explore it further in a future video! 60p@120 seems to be close to the minimum shutter speed for minimal jitter, although I have heard 50p@100 being mentioned too.

Would the neck mount with the strap go over a thick puffy jacket?
@raczyk
@raczyk 11 күн бұрын
Why is there more up and down bobbing of the camera when chest/neck mounted? Is it because the camera is vertical and has less tilt degrees to reduce the up/down movements? But when holidng djiP3 in hand, the camera is horizonal and has more lilt availanle to remove the up/down movement?
@captureguide
@captureguide 7 күн бұрын
I did a video on this showing the issue with a backpack mount, but the principle should be similar when wearing the camera on the chest/neck!

Can you put the neck mount with the pocket 3 and put it under a shirt, with only the gimbal/lense stick out for capturing footage? So then it's somehwat hidden? Know any good idea on how to hide a action or DJIpocket3 cam?
@captureguide
@captureguide 7 күн бұрын
I haven't tried myself but it sounds possible in theory. I don't have any good ideas to hide the cameras, as I personally feel more comfortable just wearing them openly, as being caught with a hidden camera feels extra awkward.

@captureguide 7 күн бұрын
Sorry, I did do some vertical filming and should have included it in the video. The footage was what you'd expect but the main issue was that it became harder to see the phone's screen (because the mount's arm can't extend out as far in vertical mode).

This is a fantastic video! I have a question, from your experience, what do you suggest to use (camera and mount) to film a TCG show with? I'm heading to one in a few months and wanted to document my experience buying and selling. Neck seems great but if I'm recording with an iphone it may be too shaky (13pro) so I'm not sure which camera or mount to go with whether it be pocket 3/action or chest/neck/backpack mount.
@captureguide
@captureguide 7 күн бұрын
Thank you! I think a neck mount would be the best type of mount, because it's both easier to wear and provides a perspective that's closer to your own eyes than a chest or backpack mount. While the Pocket 3 would likely give you the best image quality, especially if the area is dimly lit, it can feel a bit in the way if you just want to let it run while you're going around exchanging cards. Another issue is that from experience, I've found that autofocusing on subjects up close isn't as consistent as my iPhone, but you might want to do your own testing. Monitoring will be important if you're trying to get card text looking sharp, so the neck mount phone monitoring is nice. But an action camera is definitely the easiest to wear and has fixed focus, and also captures the widest scene, meaning you'll get acceptable footage that reliably captures the moment, even if it's a bit noisy or card text isn't sharp.
