@MiniJay250 I totally understand the driveway fettling in 2 degrees!!! 🤣 I like watching the DIY approach because that was how I restored my 1980 1275GT over 10 years ago now. We don't all have lovely garages or all the specialist tools to do the job which was the case for me. You will get there eventually and the RSP will be back on the road. 👍

Hi and thanks for the comment and interest. Yep, agree. Without air fuel readings I suppose I can only get a reading which works at idle without a rolling road. I will take it for a test drive and tune by how the car drives and the colour of the plugs. Come MOT time I can get an exhaust reading.

What did you use to clean the water ways? I used soda crystals and hot water, I found it effective without damaging anything. Worth a try on the radiator. I had a similar problem last week with running rough on tick over, and found a breather pipe splitting at the end next to the breather. Replaced it , all sorted. Well it was 30 years old. Worth looking into. Great vid again 🎉

Hi many thanks for your comment. I used Fernox F3 central heating cleaner which appeared to work but possibly it only partially unblocked the radiator. The gunge and rust that came out could well indicate that the radiator is beyond flush so I am leaning to replacement. Thanks for the heads up re breather pipes I will check for leaks. Given everything rubber is very old it may be a good idea to replace them anyway. Cheers.

Hi thanks again for your comment and interest. I can only think that because the radiator is original, despite the flush, it remains partially blocked. I did flush through with hose pipe and it didn’t appear blocked but you never know. So by elimination, if I replace the radiator I know it isn’t that! Could it be a block waterway in the head? Simplest one is to replace the radiator and see…another video in the pipeline 😂

Regarding the tight bearings time will tell if they are tight and start to get hot when driven. You can flush with the thermostat in place, but you run the risk of blocking at the stat if there is a lot of sediment/debris in the waterways that gets released by the action of the fernox. Some people have noted a sludge is released when this is used which will block at the stat. In my case it didn't cause sludge but lots of grit and debris.
