There is a plastic bung that you remove on the steering rack (with an allen key through the inside at the passenger footwell) that is used to centre the steering rack. This may help when you need to see to even up the tie rod ends. Rack looks in good condition - win!

Brilliant thanks for the advice. Hopefully I will be getting the mini on the road soon, so will find out how far away the steering is!

Great video, more people will enjoy these as they wade their way through all the trash content that litters you tube these days.

Thanks for the supportive comments @Polecat54941, glad you enjoy watching me try to fettle stuff! As well as enjoying renovating my mini I do like to make the videos so glad they appear watchable.

This is very encouraging! I just tried this job last week and after about 30 minutes of struggling could not get the inner part of the gaiter on over the thicker tube (could barely get a grip on anything way back in there. I'll try again this weekend using your tip!!! Fingers crossed.

Hi, glad my video helped give you ideas on how to do this job. I struggled just like you until I found this method on getting the inner diameter over the rack. Just aim to get the first part over then twist it round a fraction and push the next part over and so on. I agree there’s next to no room to get your hand in but hopefully you will do it. If I can you can. Good luck.

@@MiniJay250 It worked! I got the gaiter on eventually by using your technique. It doubled over on itself as it slid over the rack, so it took some fiddling to get it seated properly, but all's well that ends well. Thanks!

Top effort well done! I hoped that by filming my struggles it helps others doing the same work so chuffed my video helped and well done on getting the job done 👏
