Thanks for that video, Scott! Always love your vids and explanations. I’m doing my technique this way, compressing my abdomen and bringing my pelvis up. That works very well even in mawashi geri, yoko kekomi and even on ura mawashi geri. But I can’t make it work in yoko keage, because Im losing the snap. Im starting my kick with the pelvis. What’s the problem with yoko keage? Thanks in advance! Oss!

May I ask if Sensei Langley if you trained with Osaka Sensei when you lived in Japan. As Osaka Sensei was one of many daimonds from old shokotan era. It would just be interesting to hear your thoughts of Osaka Sensei. I hope you don't mind the question.

I think I have seen this guy before with his impractical ridiculous theorems, just spending students' paid-for time. One think he could do is go on a diet to lose that beer-belly and look remotely athletic.

Thanks for sharing this video. Whilst I am an Aikido practitioner, I also have been practicing Shotokan Karate and I completely agree with your explanation with synchronisation. We have the same thing with Iwama Aikido (you may want to check my KZbin channel clicking on my pic) and we work with centre feeling (hips) to build synchronisation and build mass down on our feet. The synchronisation builds from here too. Excellent video!

Over complicated applications of mechanics. This is dynamic, but not form the origins of wha tany Tekki kata was meant to be. In a way it’s beautiful but it’s far form original intent. Focussing so much on these mechanics takes away from the true essence. I respect the approach but I don’t fully agree with it all as well

it looks good like this but the reality is completely different.... we never know what attack will come... so the basic rule of success is to attack first

5.40 note he doesn’t grab with the right hand, just locks with it or you give them equality and at the end of the video he does a Nikkyo on the wrist.

Excellent detail, do not push by rear hand, but squeeze the inner thigh musle and then release. That´s the hidden principle of moving in otherwise cumbersome stances such as Sanchin dachi, Hangetsu Dachi or so. It is not about advancing, just closing the distance while having the rear leg prpeared for a strong stance. Or not?Paul,69

Such a fantastic sensei that I met thanks to your youtube channel (with the great sensei Fulvio Pascut who had impressed me enormously). His karate is for me so inspiring that, thanks to him, I have changed my way of practicing karate a lot in recent years. Thank you very much Scott for sharing these experiences with as many people as possible ! Best regards from France !
