So people keep saying. Of course anything is possible when working from the comfort of a bench with plenty of light, plenty of time to study the lock for weaknesses. That is VASTLY different than working in a real world scenario under the pressures of being discovered, poor lighting, poor working conditions, etc. Let's see people do some real world testing instead of bench testing. LPL makes great videos and is a great resource from a purely technical perspective, but that is only part of the story, real world testing is important too, yet no one really wants to acknowledge it.
@Robert-fx3ng6 сағат бұрын
@ fair enough. With it installed on a trailer, real world setting, it takes me 7 seconds to open it with a comb pick. This way of bypassing a lock has been around for almost 100 years. The manufacturer should know about it as well. At this point not fixing the manufacturer weakness could be argued as negligence. In no world would I call it the “best trailer lock”! There are lock manufacturers which openly run promotions to have the locksport community attempt to open their products. This is essentially free quality control. If there is a simple and easy way to over your security product that the engineers didn’t think about, fix it.

I just watched your video and commented on the comparison of your Bradley vs the Rec Teq. Thought I had my situation all figured out! How does it compete with a Weber gas grill as far as warm up time? Say I just want to grill a couple burgers/steaks or some Salmon? What if you don't want to smoke everything you put on the grill? This adds to my dilemma! lol
@RoughRidersTV10 күн бұрын
I think a gasser is really a different tool for different cooks. I gave up my gasser once I got my RecTeq. I found temps more consistent with the RT which led to better cooks. The RT is more than just a smoker, though I do more that than traditional grilling. What I tend to do is low/slow on the RT then do high temp stuff on a cast iron skillet. For example, if I do burgers, I smoke them for an hour on the RT at a low temp (around 200), then heat up a cast iron skillet on my stove to 450 or higher and then a really fast sear (about 1 min) on each side. I don't really care about grill marks so for me, it does not matter if they have them or not. I do the same process when grilling steaks...low/slow on the smoker until they reach 125ish, then let them rest for 15 mins. After that, I do really hot sear on the skillet to put a crust on them. Comes out perfect every time....red/pink edge to edge with a thin layer of crust. My gasser was just too flaky with hot spots, flare ups, etc. that just made it harder to get a good cook. If I were to buy another gasser, it would be a Weber for sure as I think they make the best gas grill on the market. I also have a blackstone so I can also sear on that just like I do a skillet. So, for my personal choice, the RT + Blackstone gives me more flexibility and better cooks than I could do on a gasser. Now the RT can get up to 400-500 degrees so I can use it like a traditional grill I just rarely have a need to do that with it. I do have a pizza oven attachment for it that can crank the heat up to 700+ degrees and cooks pizza really fast so that is another use of the RT over a traditional gasser than I like. In short, I really don't miss my gas grill at all once I got the RT and Blackstone but that is just what works for me.
@tomacquilano130410 күн бұрын
@@RoughRidersTV Makes perfect sense! I just don't have the patience to smoke a couple burgers for an hour and then seer them in a pan. However, I am certain they come out way better that way! I know what you mean about the gas grill. The hot spots and flare ups really suck. I can't tell you how many times I've had an inferno in my gas grill. Here's the thing, I'm an Upstate NY Italian. I cook fast and eat fast. lol In less than an hour I'll form burgers, heat up my grill, cook them with cheese, be done eating and have everything cleaned up. But that's just how we roll. For me, the smoker is kind of a special occasion cook. Maybe that will change someday when I slow down? For now I think I'll settle on the Bradley. If things change, I'm pretty sure the RT will be the next step up. They seem to be pretty awesome. Doesn't look like they make the 700 anymore though. Didn't see it on their website. Thank you for your detailed reply!

This has been one of the most helpful comparisons for my situation. I have a cheap electric smoker that was gifted to me. I don't use it much but have been interested in upgrading to a Traeger smoker grill. After more research I found that a smoker grill was not going to replace our Weber gas grill. We grill a lot. It's quick and easy. Nothing quick about grilling on a smoker grill and you just won't get the char on the meat. The other thing is having to store two large grills. It's not an option. That said, I switched my search to vertical pellet smokers. I narrowed it down to the Pit Boss. After drilling deeper I found that the Pit Boss smokers had their own quality and temperature issues. Then I decided why not just stick with the cheap electric smoker in my garage! But then I decided to look into higher quality electric smokers and here I am watching your video! We actually had a Bradley about 12 years ago when we lived in Alaska. I think the only thing we smoked in it was Salmon. Anyway, I'm going to look further into the Bradley smokers now. I'll keep the gas grill and the 22" Blackstone griddle, which I love, and replace my cheap electric smoker with a better one. Thank you for taking the time to make this video! It has been extremely helpful!

The electricity used to heat the smoker is way cheaper than pellets. My electric smoker uses a 500w element and once it gets up to temp it holds temp real well and doesn't have to turn on more than 30 mins/hr at most. Electricity is cheap so it's only about 10 cents per hour to operate. If the element stays on nonstop it would only be 15 cents per 2 hrs, I pay .15/kWh. No way the pellets are cheaper because I also have both smokers and buy the cheapest pellets I can at Walmart and only purchase the good pellets and use them in the smoke tubes to add more smoke flavor. In a pellet smoker you are using at least 1 lb pellets per hour. I know you were recommended the Bradley by someone else so please don't take this personal. The flaw in the Bradley is it needs these special pucks that make smoking more expensive and it's design makes cleanup a problem. It is also a bad shape and design with the basket style racks which limits your food size and makes it harder to clean. I foil the bottom and top of the smoke box in my cookshack and it literally takes 2 mins to throw out old foil and put new foil in there for the next cook. The wood box slides out and you dump the ashes in the trash. The Bradley is too skinny instead of being wider and shorter. I can fit a large brisket in mine, and it uses standard grill style racks like any grill. If you had a cookshack, they just have a stainless wood box in the bottom that surrounds the heating element and you just buy a bag of wood chunks. It is way cheaper for me to run my electric smoker since each you only need 1 wood chunk that I usually cut in 2 pieces. The electric smoker adds more smoke out of 1 large chunk of wood than my pellet grill does even when running 2 extra smoke tubes. If you are using a pellet smoker, you should buy a couple of smoke tubes off from amazon and you'll get much more smoke flavor than the pellet grill straight up. I bought my electric smoker in 2007 with the George Bush $600 stimulus check. The same smoker is now $1285 although it is digital now and has a temp probe. My older model is still working today, haven't had to replace the heating element or temp controller and it's almost 18yrs old. My pellet grill that I bought about 5 yrs ago just broke. It blew the fuse and when I put in a new fuse magic smoke came of the temperature controller. I could repair it, but the new ones are much nicer so I'm not putting another $200 in this older pellet smoker to change the heat rod and replace with a new controller. Now I am deciding if I am going to get another or not. I started using the electric smoker again and forgot how good the smoke flavor was out if it. The only negative I have is the time it takes to heat up initially and lack of air flow makes the food cook slower. I think that is also why it gets a better smoke flavor since the smoke has more time to penetrate the meat vs the high speed air that the pellet smoker uses to control temp. This is why if you add to much you can get it over smoked and bitter so I guess know how much wood to add is also a negative. Something you never have to worry about with a pellet smoker as I have never been able to get too much smoke on a piece of meat in my pellet smoker, that is why first thing I did after I used it was research how to get more smoke flavor and ran across the smoke tubes. They are a game changer for pellet smokers.

If you look on lockpickinglawyers videos, I believe that he can disable any of the locks that you referenced, in a few minutes or less. From what l've seen on KZbin, they can be disabled by about 30 seconds of drilling, or, just a few minutes to pick the lock. Imo, the only coupler lock that's worth $300+ is the Altor Icon, a 20# beast that would take a very LONG TIME to drill out, and can't be picked with any tool that you could buy. The others that secure the safety chains and have an aluminum or 303SS puck locks, are all bark and no bite imo. They'll protect you from someone that doesn't know what they're doing, but only slow a pro down, by about 3 minutes, if that. Just for the record, I have no association with Altor Icon, other than having purchased their product, and having high hopes for others, only to see and have them quickly dashed, by lock experts. No matter what one chooses, also securing your chains with any decent lock, a deterrent lock on your wheels, and putting down your jacks are your best bet, to be as "protected" as possible.
@RoughRidersTVАй бұрын
This comment has been made before by others. My biggest complaint about LPL is that he is picking locks in a benchtop environment and not real world. He has had plenty of time to examine the locks for weaknesses and plan out before he shoots his videos. He is working in a well lit environment, with every tool at his disposal. He is not under the pressure of getting caught, he doesn't have to worry about someone catching him in the act. In short, he has ideal conditions. I'm not saying his videos are bad at all as they provide a very clinical view of the locks. But working in an ideal setting is not the same as working in a real world environment where you have all sorts of conditions that hinder your ability to work quickly and quietly. You also have the emotional component of adrenaline flowing that impacts both decision making and steady hands. A lab environment NEVER equates to a real world environment, which I think is an important factor to be considered.
