Hey, great video. Just saw it today(9/30/2024) How much total hour time did you end up putting into the entire project??

I'm going through my grandfather's old tools getting some refurbished to pass on to my grandsons. The five Disston saws I have are in far better shape than this one. The etching is clear as day on all of them. Even the oldest just needs a little touching up. Other than the handles, I may just leave them alone.

Thanks for the tips. I need to move water to the other side of the house as well. Your method is a lot simpler than the other vids I watched

Ethanol and carburetors don’t mix. It will mess up a carburetor. You have to use “clean” gas aka the gas we had back in the 80’s. It usually has a blue label at the gas station.

how did you pull the hose out of the gas tank

Awesome! Im getting setup to start blacksmithing and this is the exact setup i am set upfor! I have a 4 ft rail and 3 plates. I intend to weld two plate to the rail and nail to one log ripped down the the side. I love your hardy hole concept. Its been nine years since this video is there anything you would suggest not doing?

@Timothy DC Nice work and I'm hoping you can tell me if tines for other brands will work on the 14" version of this tiller. I can't find tines listed to fit the Craftsman Model 917.294260 (or maybe some generic tines that I missed when searching) thanks in advance!

Check that reed and see if it is seating properly . There should be no gap between the reed and black spacer . Do NOT BEND THE REED , If you do you done screwed the pooch . 1. Remove carb , 2. Remove the black reed spacer . Do not take the two screws out . Just remove the spacer with the reed for now . Any work done to carb and the spacer with Reed should be done on towl or at least paper towl . Check and look at the spacer and reed to see if there are any gaps between the metal reed and Spacer . If there is no gap and seating proper aginst the spacer then it is fine . 3 If there is any space between the reed and spacer then you will have to remove the reed from the spacer . 4. You should see a ring mark on the out side of the reed . 5. Inspect the spacer carefully . If see a line between the screw holes and the inlet that is where the problem is , 6, Used ether 1000 to 2000 grit sand paper laying flat on a super flat area . Counter top or glass . You want to sand that side until the line is gone . Make dam sure you sand on a perfectly flat serface , I also sand the other side of the black spacer 7. Reassemble .

Hi Tim, I picked up a z-foce 48 with a blown engine, and replced it with a new engine, had to replace 1 spindle and the two front tires, I have that problem with the PTO, all my deck spindles move freely , It may be some saftey switch, not worried for now, I will find the problem , I also have a Cub 54 in...I liked how you trouble shoot by removing the belt on the PTO and go from there. Fine mentor you are with the kid, teaching him hands on mechnicial is what we need more of in our country..

This is nice and thank you for sharing, but why does everyone put things like this right up against the fence? Why not closer to the house away from the neighbors? It seems so inconsiderate. I see people doing this all the time with chicken coops, shops, dogs. It just makes no sense to me.
