I don't quite remember because it's been a few years since I've owned the car but I believe it was stock 2.5in from the downpipe to the middle where the muffler was then it was 3in straight pipe. I recommend a full 3in straight pipe from the downpipe if you can but I was just lazy back then.

@@MoistCat9 you can definitely swap out the cats later on, just make sure the connection between the downpipe and the exhaust is the same so you can use the same size clamp

No, I'm just on plain 93 oct. I've never tried e30 because I heard that a lot of n55 owners' high pressure fuel pump crash on e85 mixes.

I have a catless downpipe and I'm fully 3in straight piped meaning that I have no restriction. If a Fi exhaust will make you happy, do it. I personally never heard a n55 with a Fi exhaust so it'll be unique but I also personally don't feel like you need a lot of money to make n55s sound good. The catless downpipe was 269 from VRSF and the 3in straight piped full exhaust was around 300 from a local shop, some nice exhaust tips would be around 100 to 150. That alone would save a few grand compared to a 3000 Fi exhaust system. Or what you could do to be unique is keep your exhaust and put a switchable exhaust cut out right after the downpipe so you can be straight piped or quiet when you want to be. Whatever you think is best, I'm sure it'll sound great. If you have some money left over, definitely invest in engine modifications that'll make your car run better like a catless/catted downpipe, upgraded intercooler, and stronger charge pipe. I apologize for the late reply. The exhaust was actually done by a local muffler shop near me. Find a local exhaust/muffler shop and tell them you want a resonator, secondary cat and muffler delete replaced with 3in straight pipes. Or, tell them you want all new pipes with 3in straight pipes. Hello, what you need when getting your car tuned is taking care of the maintenance like gaskets, oil leaks, and fluid changes first. Then you need supporting mods like an upgraded charge pipe, intercooler, and catless/catted downpipe. My experience has been great, some things broke but they were common weak points like a skinny coolant line near the front bumper and a charge pipe breaking. My turbo is still in good condition but since I'm coming up on 90k miles, I'll be looking out to upgrade my turbo to pure stage 2. You have to leverage the cons and pros, like any other car ownership, things will go out and will need replacing and money, but the smile you get when driving definitely outweighs the cons. Hello, if you want your car to sound exactly that you'd have to replace your exhaust system with 3in straight pipes. What that means is you'd have delete the muffler (the big box in the back), delete the resonator (the cylindrical pipe that's right before the muffler), and delete the secondary catalytic converter (a small box before the resonator) with all 3in straight steel pipes so that there's no restrictions. As well as replace the main catalytic convert also called the downpipe with catless one. Check with your state laws on catalytic converter deletes as most states require emissions. You can run the car completely catless with straight pipes on the stock tune and it should be fine, it'll just throw a check engine from the 02 sensors. If you want the burbles, you'd have to get a tune such as bootmod3 or mhd, the tune will give you the pops and burbles but you'd have upgrade more parts to run different tunes due to higher boost pressures and the mod bug continues.

There's always going to be a faster and better engine. I have a FBO 435i now and tbh I prefer the n20 engine. It was more reliable, very nimble, had a unique character and I didn't need to go fast to have fun. In order for me to have fun with a N55, B58 or S55, I'd have to felony speed lol.

Flamees are only in sport + and dsc completely off. Sport+ for rapid and big flames while dsc completely off is single but massive flames.

I have the 93 oct stage 2 map that I use burbles on. I have burbles set on sports mode and burbles off on comfort.

The flames are from a custom flame tune by alpine.n55 so I don't mess with the settings

I haven't dyno'd but people on forums with same mods are pushing 400whp and 420wtq

You could run Bm3 tune with stock exhaust, you'd just have to run stage 1 because stage 2 requires downpipe, intercooler and chargepipe. I highly recommend upgrading the chargepipe even on stock tune because I blew that up on the first day of owning the car on stock tune. My thoughts on race downpipes (catless) are that they're great if you live in states that are loose when it comes to emissions law. You can always get a catted downpipe if catless is not an option for you, both of which can be used for stage 2.

Yes I still have the car. Everything has been running great. I got by oil lab analysis back and they said my engine is running better than normal. I am inching close to 80,000 miles and the only major expense was fixing my right DRL because the LED modules got corroded.

Flame tunes does accelerate wear. I shot flames on my 228i so many times for so long everyday and it ran so well... the thing that killed it was water.

@@ethaninocando The biggest issue , is when a fuel injector can fail and hydrolock the motor. Yeah I lost my f30 from flood damage from Ida last year I have an F10 now though
